Sean Patrick Fannon, the Marketing and Communications Manager for DriveThruRPG has announced the DriveThruRPG Convention Support Program where conventions can get support and specific prizes to help the convention. The full announcement is below:

Greetings, Convention/Event Organizer!

DriveThruRPG is proud to announce our new DriveThru Convention Support Program, whereby we can provide you both broad-based support for all of your attendees as well as specific prizes to be used as game support, in auctions, or however else you feel best supports your program.

All we need to get you set up is the following information:

The name, dates, and location of the event.

Your web site.

Estimated attendance.

An idea of how integral gaming is to your event.

What publishers you have in attendance or otherwise supporting the event already.

Deadlines for program book additions, as well as any formatting or other important information relevant to the program book or other promo materials you are producing for the event.

Please note that we will not be providing any physical product support. Instead, we will be providing codes that can be used to attain discounts and free products that are down-loadable from our site. Here’s how it works -

You will receive a “Main Convention Code” that will be useful for a special discount off of a number of products on our site. This can be published in your program book (along with a basic message and graphic for DriveThruRPG), indicating that all members/attendees will be able to make use of the code up to 30 days after the end of the event. Alternately, you could print the code out on small flyers and hand them out as part of whatever “swag bags” you might give away.

You will also receive a number of “Prize Support Codes.” This will be good for a single or limited set of products to be downloaded for free for a single person. They are intended as special giveaways, either to support specific games, the gaming program of the convention overall, or as auction items or other con support. Prize Support Codes will be good for a single customer for 3 months following the end of the event.

Along with the codes, you will be provided graphics that can be used both in your program book and on any printed certificates you hand out. The latter is our suggested method of awarding the Prize Support Codes; we regret that we cannot provide these documents ourselves, but the labor and cost of that for all the events we hope to support would make that impossible. As such, we are empowering you to produce a simple document that promotes both your event and our site in whatever manner best suits you.

We will also supply suggested text for any program book ad or certificates you issue.

We appreciate both your desire to work with us in providing your attendees special support for their participation in your event, as well as the broad support of gaming that you are providing with your efforts. Please let us know if there is any other way we can help you, and thanks for being another great source of support for the gaming hobby.

AN ENDLESS WINTER IS COMING

AN ENDLESS WINTER IS COMING

The history of Rassilon is bloody. From the frozen far noth, beyond the civilized lands with their rolling hills and forests, arose a mighty army of frost giants, ice devils, Hellfrost dragons, and fearsome orcs, servants all of the ice god Thrym. So began the terrible Blizzard War and the downfall od the mighty empires of man.

Five hundred years later the races of the southern lands may have won the war, but they suffer its legacy still. For five centuries the winters have grown steadily longer and colder. Huge swathes of the land of Rassilon are permanently covered in ice and snow, and even the temperate lands are not spared the misery of failed harvests, deadly winters, and the dreaded Hellfrost wind.

But winter is not the only danger. A mere 30 years ago, magic, once the civilized races’ most potent weapon, suddenly began to fail. The Siphoning, an effect of unknown origin, has made magic an unpredictable ally.

Welcome to the world of Rassilon.
Welcome to the Hellfrost!

A Pathfinder Roleplaying Game adventure by Creighton Broadhurst for four 1st-level PCs

In the frozen depths of winter, murderous winds mercilessly batter the crumbling Priory of Cymer. Within, trapped by their duty and the heaped snowdrifts that render travel near impossible, the few remaining faithful huddle together and tend the sacred places of their forbears. With the weather worsening, nerves fray and tempers snap as the wind howls its mournful dirge for the forgotten dead of a fallen time. But the worst is yet to come. One of those trapped within holds a murderous grudge that only blood can expunge and as the storm reaches its savage height terrible revenge is wrought amid the frigid halls and faded glories of a bygone age.

Cubicle 7 Entertainment is producing a roleplaying game based on the award-winning Laundry series (The Atrocity Archives, The Jennifer Morgue, and the forthcoming The Fuller Memorandum) by the even-more-award-winning Charles Stross, and uses the also-award-winning Basic Roleplaying System (Call Of Cthulhu) by Chaosium Inc.

“We love the Laundry Files novels, so we’re really excited about this game,” said Dominic McDowall-Thomas, Cubicle 7 Director. “The world of the Laundry is a perfect mix of espionage, conspiracy and tentacled menace from beyond the stars.”

“The books are Lovecraftian spy thrillers. The best elements from both genres are thrown together with a sprinkling of long lost Nazis, terrorist cultists, other foreign governments wanting a piece of the action, as well as Her Majesty’s Civil Service.” added Cubicle 7’s Angus Abranson.

The Laundry is a branch of the British secret service, tasked to prevent hideous alien gods from wiping out all life on Earth. Players take the part of Laundry agents, cleaning up the mess after things go wrong or, sometimes, even managing to prevent the manifestation of ultimate evil. Agents have access to the best equipment they can get their superiors to approve, from Basilisk Guns to portable containment grids to a PDA loaded up with Category A countermeasure invocations.

The game has been designed and written by industry veterans Gareth Hanrahan, Jason Durall and John Snead.

“I’m really excited to be working with Cubicle 7 to bring the sinister world of the Laundry to a wider audience,” says Charles Stross, Hugo award-winning author of “The Atrocity Archives” and “The Jennifer Morgue”.

The Laundry RPG is a self-contained rulebook and will be supported by a number of sourcebooks and adventure campaigns. The game is due to be released in July 2010.

For more information on The Laundry RPG, please contact info@cubicle7.co.uk

About Cubicle 7 Entertainment Ltd
Cubicle 7 Entertainment is a British-based publisher and events company, specialising in the games industry. Founded in 2006, by Angus Abranson and Dominic McDowall-Thomas, the company has published role-playing games from a list of licensed and home-grown properties including Victoriana, Starblazer Adventure (based on DC Thomson’s 80’s Starblazer comic series), SLA Industries, Qin: The Warring States and the recent Doctor Who: Adventures in Time and Space (licensed from the BBC). Cubicle 7 also works with a number of publishing partners helping bring their creations to print and into distribution. In June 2009 Cubicle 7 announced it had joined the Rebellion Group.

About Charles Stross
Charles Stross is a full-time writer who was born in Leeds, England in 1964. He studied in London and Bradford, gaining degrees in pharmacy and computer science, and has worked in a variety of jobs, including pharmacist, technical author, software engineer and freelance journalist.
CAPITAL LAUNDRY SERVICES – WHAT NEEDS TO BE CLEANED UP?

There are things out there, in the weirder reaches of space-time where reality is an optional extra. Horrible things, usually with tentacles. Al-Hazred glimpsed them, John Dee summoned them, HP Lovecraft wrote about them, and Alan Turing mapped the paths from our universe to theirs. The right calculation can call up entities from other, older universes, or invoke their powers. Invisibility? Easy! Animating the dead? Trivial! Binding lesser demons to your will? Easily doable!

Opening up the way for the Great Old Ones to come through and eat our brains? Unfortunately, much too easy.

That’s where the Laundry comes in – it’s a branch of the British secret service, tasked to prevent hideous alien gods from wiping out all life on Earth (and more particularly, the UK). You work for the Laundry. The hours are long, the pay is sub-par, the co-workers are… interesting (in the Chinese curse sense of the word), and the bureaucracy is stifling – but you do get to wave basilisk guns and bullet wards around, and to go on challenging and exciting missions to exotic locations like quaint, legend-haunted Wigan, cursed Slough and Wolverhampton where the walls are thin.

You may even get to save the world.

Just make sure you get a receipt.

* * *

THE LAUNDRY roleplaying game is based on the award-winning Laundry series (THE ATROCITY ARCHIVES, THE JENNIFER MORGUE, THE FULLER MEMORANDUM) by the even-more-award-winning CHARLES STROSS, and uses the also-award-winning BASIC ROLEPLAYING SYSTEM (CALL OF CTHULHU).

In this book, you’ll find:
• Computational demonology, summoning extradimensional horrors, and three ways to use a shotgun to banish alien monsters.
• A history of the Laundry and the other occult intelligence agencies
• Classified briefings on known threats and monstrous horrors
• Streamlined rules for character creation, investigation and combat
• Three ready-to-play missions

Savage Mojo is looking for a pair of people who have an eye for game balance and a passion for the best rules. If that’s you, we want your help in developing the rules for a new series of roleplay supplements. Get your name in print, and earn some cash along the way.

“We’re looking to expand our Suzerain game line, and to make that happen we need the biggest rules lawyers ever.” explained Martin Klimes, Publisher at Savage Mojo. “This is freelance work that someone could do in the evenings and at weekends, open to any gamer who’s ever created a homebrew rule or tweaked a setting.”

Apart from having a keen eye for game balance, successful applicants will be reliable and easy to get along with. Don’t bother applying if you’re a prima donna who won’t work with the team. Don’t bother applying if you’ll flake on your projects. But if you can hit a deadline and play nicely with others… this is a great opportunity.

Initial interest should be sent by email to the Suzerain Lead Developer, Miles M Kantir: MMK [at sign] savagemojo.com

Tell us a little bit about yourself and why you think you’d be good at the work!
