Bexleyheath Group Update
Hiya all,
just an update to say the summer break is over for our group and we are back on the Call of Cthulhu campaign trail with mask of Nyarlahotep.
A few player changes, but essentially the group is still strong, but is looking for one or two new players.
For the record we play every Sunday night from 7 until 10ish.
On the back-burner is Dark Heresy, 7th Sea and a few other new items that Ive not yet gotten around to reading.

Re: Bexleyheath Group Update
I've cross posted this in the Kent forum as well. We are a group of 30 & 40 something gamers who are keen to recruit new players. Currebtly there are only 4 of us but are keen to grow to a decent size again.
We are based in NW Kent and play every sunday from 7pm until 10:30 ish. We play and run pretty much anything and everything.
PM me if you want to get in touch.
Bumped update.

Re: Bexleyheath Group Update
After a bit of start-stop gaming we are back playing regularly. Luckily we were playing a game that was more filler than a dead-cert campaign. We are not at full capacity at the moment, so we're saving the big games for when we do.
Currently we have 1 maybe 2 more sessions of a RuneQuest mashup of Balastor's Barracks and Tomb of Horrors.
Eyes always to the future, I believe we will be playing Dark Heresy next carrying on with the Haarlocks Legacy campaign. After that, it may well be one of the other WH40K RPGs, Deadlands, 7th Sea or Legend of the Five Rings.

Re: Bexleyheath Group Update
Last session of RuneQuest (damn holidays and christenings getting in the way) this week, which means its time to hand over the reins to Wrigamortis to carry on running Dark Heresy with parts 2 and 3 of Haarlock's Legacy.

Re: Bexleyheath Group Update
Im very pleased to report we have finished the RQ Pavis/Big Rubble mini campaign on a high. Added to which we have had 2 new players joining the ranks with 1 or 2 other brave souls in the wings, which makes for a full set of players and really has got me fired up for the Dark Heresy game Wrigamortis is about to carry on with.
We started Haarlocks Legacy part 1 last year, and now having secured the 2nd and 3rd parts we are going to see this epic to the end. And it all starts this Sunday 15th August.

Re: Bexleyheath Group Update
Im really happy to say we have have a full compliment of gamers; DM plus 6 players. As a DM this is ideal as its manageable and also allows in-game chatter amongst the players. Generally the smaller the group, the more involved the DM has to get and consequently "burns" through a lot more material than a larger group.
We are playing the final bit of book 1 of Haarlock's Legacy, the 3 book epic Dark Heresy campaign. Despite the fact that we really enjoying the game with renewed excitement, I think most of us have games bubbling under the radar that we are keen to run.
If you are still interested, no problem I can add you to the waiting list.

Re: Bexleyheath Group Update
The second part of Haarlock's Legacy campaign is coming to an end for Dark Heresy, after which we are embarking on a series of Deadlands: The Weird West adventures to set everyone back on an even playing ground as we recently recruited 2 new players both of whom started at a 2nd career rank, whereas the rest of the group was knocking on the 8th rank.
We are going to try to get as much gaming in as possible before we close down for the Christmas break.
In the new year several games have been proposed;
Deadlands - carrying on
CoC - carrying on with the Masks campaign started earlier this year
Dark Heresy - the final chapter
Vampire and Legend of the Five Rings have also been thrown into the pot too...

Re: Bexleyheath Group Update
Very pleased to say the 1st session of the year did actually happen in the end.
Deadlands: The Weird West will prove to be a convenient diversion to allow two new players to settle in before returning to the 3rd and final part of the Dark Heresy campaign.
Books are open as to what we are going to play afterwards, but I'll have a look through my collection and see what fires my imagination for the coming year.

Re: Bexleyheath Group Update
Dark Heresy has gone on hiatus for a while due to the GM having outside influences preventing the reading and running of the game. All this has meant that we have begun a long overdue campaign of Vampire: The Dark Ages.
I had originally planned to run this as Werewolf: Dark Ages (as part of a trilogy, but only got as far as the 2nd part), so whilst not all the material can be reused, certainly enough of it exists to use as background.
A cursory read of the rules (character generation and combat) and making notes etc... and we are away in the 12th century Europe. This one I suspect will continue until the characters either killed or reach their own personal goals. Set in the British Isles, the troupe have already managed to upset the entire clan of Toreador in Canterbury, all in the name of Mithras, Prince of London, or so they think...

Vampire Dark Ages Update
4 Sessions in, and like every Storyteller game Ive ever run in the past, is very much a slow burner. Building the main characters, putting them into pre-written scenarios and chronicles to build a veneer of personalities with NPCs. Also this time is important for me to ensure that the people they meet are as real as possible, and respond to them in like fashion.
The group is still small whilst we have 2-3 players away for family and study reasons, but that still leaves a healthy/unhealthy number of Cainites roaming throughout 12th Century Europe.
As the "Storyteller", and with the December due date for the birth of Son/Daughter no.3, I am aware this is probably going to be the last campaign I am going to run/play for a while, so I am planning on making it the most violent, exciting and epic possible, building on the experience I have in pacing and adventure from previous campaigns.
Lets hope the ride is a good one.

Re: Bexleyheath Group Update
Hey Lawbag, I've been meaning to ask: Do you or any of the other gamers you know in that area remember DWARP, the Dartford Wargamers And RolePlayers group which used to meet at the Irish Club in Dartford back in the late 80s? I'm originally from the area but escaped about 20 years ago (my parents now live in Hextable) and I've completely lost touch with everyone in the area.
I also write a regular column here about roleplaying games and what we're really doing when we play them. It's kinda dry, but hopefully interesting to at least someone.

Re: Bexleyheath Group Update
I do remember visiting the club just once at the old Irish Club in Dartford back in 1990/1991, but it has long since been demolished and a YMCA built on the same site (which ironically was later demolished and a newer YMCA was built on top of that!).
Maybe it was me, but the group seemed small and more interested in homebrew than known systems, and at about the same time I stumbled across The Assembly (a long-since closed shop in Dartford that had large gaming rooms) and The Running Horses (Thursday gaming club in Erith which is still going) gaming groups in the area as well.
I didnt collect names or keep in touch with any of DWAR groups so unfortunately I can help. I have asked my group with whom I now game with, and so far nothing.
Did you have any names of any of the guys, and I can look further.

Re: Bexleyheath Group Update
4th session of Vampire Dark Ages has been completed, and with holidays and commitments interrupting most of my players, has meant for some interesting and intimate sessions of sometimes as little as 2 players.
The material is well suited to small groups, and allows both the players and myself to explore aspects and nuiances of the game that are not normally under scrutiny in larger normal gaming groups.
What started as a simple diplomatic mission to convince a dying earl to leave his lands not to the church but the Prince of London, has escalated into clan wars, and bloody wholesale slaughter of a castle full of lords and ladies.
Its rare that as a GM I feel revulsed by what the players attempt to accomplish, but any player worth his salt in my games knows actions have consequences, and Im looking forward to those.
