Bill! NOOOOOO!!!
Yo
ZOMG+OMG
Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2 are for sale on Steam for just £8 for the both of them.
The new scenario The Sacrifice, even has emo misery tourism baked right into the finale. Very Cool.
Who's up for some zombie kickin', zombie punchin', zombie chainsawin', zombie shootin', zombie stranglin', zombie burnin', zombie 'xplodin', zombie crushin', zombie slashin', zombie gougin', zombie runnin', zombie donkey punchin', zombie chewin', zombie poundin', zombie pulverisin' online action... Miami-style?

If the game is still on my machine, I'm all over it like a rash.
Well, once a week anyhoo. Not this week obviously, as I've got stuff to do for Furnace.

Re: Bill! NOOOOOO!!!
Man oh man, I just played L4D2 for the first time. It rocks.
The new characters are immediately likeable - the Coach has some droll dialogue. It was also nice to see the return of some familiar faces in the level design. Speaking of which, the level design feels a lot more... open... it's not always obvious which way you're meant to go, which kinda ups the tension as you wander about hoping that you're going in the right direction. I like it.
The new weapons feel meaty: the inclusion of a cricket bat is odd-good, the chainsaw is golden, and the combat shotgun is crazy good. The new Special Infected are a mixed bag: the Charger and Spitter are awesome-on-a-stick and open up some different tactical challenges if you're playing Versus. The Jockey... seems a tad superfluous: colourful sure, but I'm not immediately seeing the real niche that it fills. I think I saw a female Boomer model, but I shot the crap out of it too quickly to really see.
Fun!
Hit me up this week for some zombie action.
Cheers

It certainly does.

I like Nick. He's all like overly nice and stuff and you know he is gonna crap on them to save his arse at one point.
Yeah I know what you mean, I spend ages running round the mall...'huh! haven't I passed this escalator before?'Peturabo wrote:Speaking of which, the level design feels a lot more... open... it's not always obvious which way you're meant to go, which kinda ups the tension as you wander about hoping that you're going in the right direction. The inclusion of the hazard suit zombies and the bottles of bile they carry! Is made of win! Not sure on adrenaline though. Might be fun to shot yourself up on it and charge through the horde.
Haven't had a chance to use the defibrillator yet, although I really want too!
The charger is really cool. Like the hunter but just harder! and you can't just push him off a pinned survivor.... apparently!Peturabo wrote:The new Special Infected are a mixed bag: the Charger and Spitter are awesome-on-a-stick and open up some different tactical challenges if you're playing Versus.

I think you can go crazy on the controls to shake them off, which is cool when they do fly off and you're separated from the other survivors or stumble through some acid from the Spitter. Tactically I like the Jockey but the model isn't all that good. Probably better served with a blinder something that shoots goo in your eyes so you stumble around trying to wipe it off. But I suppose with the Boomer and the Spitter they were going for something slightly different.
Have you also noticed the names the survivors give to the special infected? No more 'Boomer here!' thank god.

Re: Bill! NOOOOOO!!!
Maybe we should arrange some team play for Thursday night after the gym or something?
I don't like the Jockey 'cause it often doesn't work, but when it does it really fncks up the group as someone's character is half a map away. Its just all or nothing it seems. Like when you're in the first adventure and you sue it to ride people out of the fifth floor and kill them in a couple of seconds. Boo. Spitter is ace for stopping people turtling in one spot and hitting them in the bottle necks. Charger is good fun too.
Defrib can be cool from a players point of view, but for monsters its annoying when you've got a half decent group arrayed against you! Nice little touch though. Adren is crazy 'cause I can't control things at that speed.
I'm also a menace with the grenade launcher, so keep that bad boy away from me.
Melee is a good addition mostly.
Its all good fun. Just got sick of playing with arsey foreigners, so looking forward to some UKRP trash talking.

You do talk a good talk theah Gary boy, but from what I remember of your L4D play a while back, you can't walk that walk for sheeeee-it. Give that grenade launcher to someone who knows how to use it - Toad or me - and stick to something that any schmoe can use.

Happy to oblige. I've downloaded the Extra Armour In The Back mod, to help with all the shooting of your teammates in the back that you're so famous for. Er, or was that Dave?

Re: Bill! NOOOOOO!!!
Oh, Thursday night works for me.
It blows chunks that L4D2 doesn't run on the Great Poobah's lappie. L4D has some new content, so in the spirit of we're all in this together, would y'all be up for some vanilla L4D as well? That way Dave - and mebbe others too - can join in the killin' too. It's been too long since Dave last blew me away with a misplaced SMG burst.
Cheers

I could do that

Re: Bill! NOOOOOO!!!
I can see if I can get L4D to work, but it was on my old machine which is now just a cantankerous external hardrive in a SATA bridge.
Although cheap to purchase my rented house has broadband provided by the landlord that is gee ay why. If I redownloaded L4D it would cost me £20 in extra data charges and then I'd be banjoed for the rest of the month also.
I'll see what I can do, but its looking like you'll have to use Dave and I interchangably.
Boo.

Re: Bill! NOOOOOO!!!
Whoops, I can't make this Thursday night fragfest.
I'd quite forgotten that the local improv troupe are recruiting, so I'm going along to what should be a crash and burn laugh
Um, next week for shoah, for realz. Have fun... played The Bridge the other night. Mandinga... impossible with those witless AI bots. And the Charger is golden on that span, one hit and you're off.
Cheers

Re: Bill! NOOOOOO!!!
Mother Hubbard.
They don't mess around at these auditions. You're one of 40 people, and after playing a few warmup games you essentially get one two minute scene to sell yourself to the existing improv troupe. You're judged on that, and then it's thank you very much for coming.
My partner - a guy I'd never met before, who ran with what we got quite well - and I got the random suggestion of "sheep" to kick off our scene. I dunno what other folks would have done with that, but I immediately squatted down and gave the imaginery sheep in front of me a proper good shagging, interspersing various moans with directions to my attendant Daffyd to watch my technique, 'cos there were another 40 sheep on this hill that needed a good rogering. Daffyd was none too keen to pop his cherry this way, but after he'd had a thrust or two into that deep valley, he was sold.
End of scene.
Man. That was essentially my audition. Porking a sheep called Brenda on a Welsh hill. Next year I think I might not go with the first thing that pops into my head. Bloody sheep shagging, @#]&^%!
The improv book I have read - some Johnstone text or other - essentially says go with the flow (I paraphrase): but I dunno, letting rip with the first thing to hit means stuff like sheep shagging is gonna pop out. Shizen hofen. (And "shizen hofen" ain't a good thing.)
There's always next year and it's hardly the end of the world... but damn, I'm feeling glum, damn glum.
Pete
