Ok, so for my HX We have a really simple one!

On My turn :
Choose the character you find most strange. Tell that player Hx+1.
• Tell everyone else Hx-1. You’re kind of strange yourself.

Hmm for this one, I think the character I will find the weirdest is Echo, shes way to human and full of life from an age that is long since past.

Everyone else gets -1 unless you override it.

On the others’ turns:
• Choose the character you figure for the biggest potential problem. Whatever number that player tells you, give it +1 and write it next to the character’s name.
• Everyone else, whatever number they tell you, give it -1 and write it next to their character’s name. You’ve got other stuff to do and other stuff to learn.

For the +1 Its a toss up between Smelt and the Hardholder character, since he owns the place. Ill wait for that one to be posted.

Everyone else gets -1 no matter what you assign to me, so probably best to put your money elsewhere.

My HX is pretty simple too:

On your turn:
• Choose whether you are by nature generous with your trust and resources, or reserved. If the former, then tell everyone Hx+1. If the latter, then tell everyone Hx=0.

So everyone: Hx +1 from me.


On the others’ turns, choose 1 or both:
• One of them has been with you since before. Whatever number that player tells you, give it +1 and write it next to
the character’s name.
• One of them once betrayed you or stole from you. Whatever number that player tells you, ignore it; write Hx+3 next to the character’s name instead.

I'm going to consider Smelt to have betrayed me - possibly by trying to rouse the population with his religious demagoguery, but possibly something else we'll work out in play.

I'm going to consider Volundir to be someone I knew from the past.

Excellent, that's the vibe I was going for :D

For me it's:
On your turn, choose 1, 2 or all 3:
• One of them is your friend. Tell that player Hx+2.
• One of them is your lover. Tell that player Hx+1.
• One of them is in love with you. Tell that player Hx-1.
• Tell everyone else Hx=0.
On the others’ turns:
• For everyone, whatever number they tell you, give it -1 or +1 and write it next to the character’s name. Your choice for each.


hmm. Kind of weird to decide this for someone else, so if anyone's got opinions or preferences I'll gladly roll with that.

I actually quite like the fact that some aspects of character generation are decided for us - and I'm happy for you to assign any of the three options to Barnum.

In general I quite like it too, but for the Skinner its a bit awkward seeing how I get to dictate whether someone loves me or not.

Either way...

Saffron is my friend, she's got my back so that's a HX +2
Barnum is the top dog, so he's probably my lover which puts him at a HX +1
Smelt is probably in love with me and just wants to change my wicked ways, so HX-1 for him
Volundir is kinda weird, so... HX 0

And Saffron:

That's obviously Echo.

Tell everyone else Hx+1

And on my sheet:

Choose your favourite character; ignore the number that player tells you and write Hx+3 instead.

Everyone else, whatever number they tell you, give it +1

Volundir -1 (0)
Barnum +1 (+2)
Echo +2 (+3)
Smelt ? (?+1)

I have decided that since all the characters are awesome, I will give +3 to Volundir, since it makes sense that I understand him better than anyone else does.
I also write a regular column here about roleplaying games and what we're really doing when we play them. It's kinda dry, but hopefully interesting to at least someone.

So, barring any last minute converts, you all get Hx=0 from Smelt.

Given this - "Everyone else, whatever number they tell you, give it +1 and write it next to their character’s name. You’re a good and quick judge of others" - I believe I get this:
Barnum +2
Echo 0
Saffron +2
Volundir 0
(please correct me if I'm wrong!)

Seems I've got a pretty good handle on Saffron and Barnum and, given my unrequited feelings for Echo, I don't think I'd want to see in to her soul even if I could. That leaves Volundir for the +3. I've seen what passes for your soul, machine boy, and there's not a lot there.

If I've been tracking things correctly:

  • Silhouette will be picking the first highlight stat for Saffron
  • Kamawell will be picking the first highlight stat for Barnum
  • Zuki will be picking the first highlight stat for Smelt
  • I'll be picking the first highlight stat for Volundir

I believe the person selecting the first highlight stat for Echo is still up for grabs - but I suspect at this point Rich is the front runner. (Before applying either the +1 or -1 the HXs look like Saffron +2, Barnum +1, Smelt 0, Volundir -1 - so it potentially could be anyone except Zuki)

Kamawell,

Barnum's strongest relationship (highest Hx) is with Smelt (+3), so I should ask you which of Barnum's stats is most interesting to you (and I'll highlight it)?

Zuki,

Since it appears Volundir's highest relationship is with Barnum can I say I'm most interested in his Sharp stat.

This is mainly because I'm interested in seeing people go to him for advice (and I figure you do too or you wouldnt have taken Oftener right). I believe people are more likely ask him if he's insightful. Read a Sitch and Read a Person both come off sharp - hence this is the stat I'd like to see highlighted.

If I understand it correctly (and its early, so I probably don't...) my HX with others currently looks like this:

Saffron - +2 (Ultimately +3)
Barnum - +1 (Ultimately +2)
Smelt - 0 (Ultimately -1)
Volundir - +1 (ultimately 0)

Which means that Saffron gets to pick my highlighted stat.

And for Saffron I pick Hard, because I expect she's going to have to slap unruly customers around a fair bit.
