Also since my cunning plan to get people to write a Cyberpunk playset for me failed, I am going to put one together on the Wiki here. Please feel free to join in or even put your own playsets on the wiki. Pete kindly made a template page for Fiasco playsets which you can copy.

My Cyberpunk playset will be at http://www.ukroleplayers.com/wiki/Chrome

Having said all that, I'm more than happy to spend some time going through the playset and seeing if we can't 'vague up' a couple of the relationships in each category to get this feel. When we were revisiting the only reason 'Rival Engineers' stayed in was because it was the only truly vague link we had, and I guess even that is a bit specific...

I totally get that which is why I suggested only one or two in each group, in a normal playset equal relationships are far more common than unequal relationships.

Your Rival Engineers is a perfect example of what I think you need a few more of, its defines some things about the relationship but has plenty of wiggle room, and more importantly the lack of inequality means its able to flow from whatever inequal relationships might be sitting either side of it at the table.

I liked the specific relationships in 1890. They were pleasingly Dickensian: characters defined by adjectives.

Generally, I like Fiasco playsets when there's something special about them. So, although we could make these playsets like other playsets, I'd prefer we didn't. We'll lose the specialness.

Try it in play a couple of times. If it doesn't work, revise it. But if it works, please keep it. It's a lovely idea.

I guess my point comes from a play perspective, whilst I could play a game no problem and have fun with it, I think the first time someone has to say, "I really want to pick this one, but it breaks my other relationship completely so I can't" then the playset has got in the way of people having fun and I just think a few more with wiggle room would allow people to get around that.

But its just my opinion and its cool to disagree if you prefer it how it is.

Can this be taken off to another bit of the forum so we can chat about it. Happy to be involved, but I've never really got round to learning how to do wiki's and I'd prefer to discuss options before going to concrete with them which I'm not sure the wiki is that good at. I was very happy with how the 'suggest 8, reduce to 6' method worked with the playset creation.

Instant thought was that 'In Cyberspace' would make a good location, 'In the Field' would also work.

Could we get a How To Run A Fiascon thing written up? That Choose-6-From-8 thing looks good, by itself, and I'm sure there were more tips.

Yes it can, I will sort it out in a bit, have a meeting in a few minutes, I am more than happy for you to add 7 and 8 options, so far I have just been riffing things, the only stuff I feel strongly about is the Family relationships expressing the different meaning that family can take in a cyberpunk setting. Anyway...yes new post coming up....somewhere.

I've added some bits to the Wiki, I've done it in italics so they can be spotted easier and deleted if they don't go with the feel.

Don't know if it's better to spend time justifying choices, or if they just aren't valid if they don't mean something cold...

Thanks, I like pretty much all of them. I think the best approach is just throw stuff in, and once we have filled all the categories with 8 or 9 choices, then go back and do a quality assessment for which we think would be best.

I've thrown a few bits in. I mainly loved cyberpunk back in the day for Gibson's adjective-and-brand-name-filled, style-over-content prose, so that's probably affected some of my contributions. Please feel free to delete any or all of it!

I've collected all of the stuff that I gathered from observing on the day and will write it all up on Friday.

We're at 6 choices minimum in each category now. I racked my brains to think of a sixth relationship one, ended up downloading the playsets of the month and then it came to me. Think it's in keeping and the ideas flowed pretty easily for it.

There are a few dotted around that are silly, almost just to see if people notice them.

Do you want to give it a pass and see if new stuff comes to mind? Following that we have a concerted effort to hit 8 in each set (more if the feeling takes) and then do a critique of each to see which people are least happy with?

This could really do with its own subject. If you want to leave it in the Meetup Group, although I'm not sure it fits, then why not start a topic called 'Chrome'...
