Bump.
Keeping an eye on the thread. I'm easy-going about which week it is, so long as we're enough in advance that flights are cheep and cheerful.

With a herd of elephants you may storm the walls of many a castle, but with one diseased rat you can kill every man inside.

Don't know about the Southern Softies, but for us lot in the Midlands, its less than a couple of hundred quid for flights and I can fly from East Midlands or Birmingham, so easy and cheap enough. For now, anyway...

Re: "Wendy"Con/ConDamned - can you attend?
The Southern softies have the luxury of FlyBE from So'ton. I have used that one repeatedly, and prefer it over any carrier operating the Boeings or Airbuses, such as BMIBaby and EasyJet.

Yeah, I used FlyBe out of Soton when I visited the Dutchies, and it was really straightforward and not too expensive. My return flight in August 2010 was £160, but there were cheaper options for more flexible dates.

In fact, a quick run through the FlyBe site departing 15th June and returning 18th June next year gives me a return price of £70.84, including taxes. Awesomely cheap.

I use FlyBe from Southampton at least once per year to head back home and I can attest to their value and decent staff.
Far above the service you get with RyanAir, that's for sure. Including engines that work properly and landing gear with suspension!
I wish I was joking about the last bit. Some very scary landings with RyanAir...

As long as this doesn't clash with any LARP I'd be in for sure, and willing to run a game to Dan

Ooh, I wanna come, I wanna come.
If I brought the Riot bus, is there somewhere I could park up nearby? Whats the law on overnight stopping at the side of the road?

I'm looking up the law on that right now, and as usual it is vague. From what I can see it's generally a no, unless specified otherwise (of course). There are special sites for it, but from what I can tell none of those are in the Amsterdam-area. However, if you're bringing your own sleeping accommodation it might be possible to park near the home of one of the Amsterdam-based Dutch invaders. Or there might be campsites nearby, but I'll get someone who actually knows about that stuff to answer that question :p

Re: "Wendy"Con/ConDamned - can you attend?
One flaw I can already see is 'parking' and 'Amsterdam'
I'll see what I can find. It used to be illegal under national law, but they scrapped that rule a few years ago, delegating the issue to the local municipalities rules and regulations. Most banned it, but some forgot to do so, but it does make it a bit complex to find out.
Amsterdam explicitly bans the use of vehicles (cars, boats and so on) for sleeping. I've had a quick look, and this also goes for most of the municipalities surrounding Amsterdam.

Just for a frame of reference: for Conception and Indiecon we use about 150 euro (125 UKP) worth of petrol, per car.

Re: "Wendy"Con/ConDamned - can you attend?
Great, I just found I have to attend a course on middle management on saturday the 16th. My boss tried to get me in on another date, but that's not possible. Unfortunatley, I can't afford to skip it. This means I'm going to miss the afternoon slot.
More Dutchies moving in.
