There is a convention in the old Battlemasters slot, it's called Con-Quest.
Nope, never heard of it - must be one of those foreign Cons!
I'm assuming that this is a joke, but...
There are actually a fair number of cons on around the country, if one looks. I know that no-one can get to all of them, but a lot of them aren't bad. Rather than pushing the organisers of a good con into running more often, until they burn out and stop running the thing altogether (and I don't assume this will happen to the Continuum folks, but it's a real possibility I'd worry about), it might actually be worth people trying to get to a few different events.
You never know - you might enjoy it.

I think a fair number of people do that. Although there's quite a difference between a one day Con and a three day Con so while Con-Quest is in the old Battlemasters slot it doesn't really offer what Battlemasters offered.

If Con-Quest was a three day residential Con then I be there, but it ain't so I'm not.
Con-Quest Vs. Battlemasters isn't apples for apples!

Re: Should Continuum be on every year?
Raises the question of when is the best time of the year for a convention, for the most people, doesn't it?
Summer tends to be easiest for things like Continuum and Consternation, simply because we're using university accommodation - often the best bet for mid-size residential cons in this country - and that's usually easiest (or maybe only possible) in summer. Plus, more people seem to be able to find the time then. Easter-ish also seems to get a bit clogged up with other stuff that some people consider Terribly Important or distracting (Salute in London, the SF Eastercon, short school holidays), even if other people haven't even heard of them. Still, Conpulsion and Con-Quest seem to survive. It used to seem quite hard to get people to travel in winter, although we're seeing more happening then nowadays...
I dunno what Leicester Uni are like for Easter bookings, but I doubt that Continuum will be thinking of moving somehow. Summer does work, even if there's some danger of near-clashes with things like Games Expo at one end and US Gencon or Essen at the other.

Re: Should Continuum be on every year?
Greetings Continuues!
Just a reminder the the poll up on the Yahoo! Group will close in a few days time on Sunday 10th April 2011.
http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/Con ... id=2348906
Currently it looks like the membership is polarised with an even spread between the two main options.
We would really like your opinions about it so please vote before the deadline.
If you wish to ask a question or wish to discuss this matter we have a discussion going on over at the Tavern.

Re: Should Continuum be on every year?
I think more choice is good. If its on every year, its easier for people to schedule it. Granted, not all might be able to make every year, but a lot would. As long as the committee can cope with the prep I would argue every year is good. Plus, keep it in the school holidays so I can make all four days!
