And feel free to post your characters up here in the meantime! Let's have names, classes and pithy backgrounds.

(Setting wise, we will be in classic fantasy land, and yes, there will be a dungeon involved)

Only managed a quick skim of Old School Hack so far, am I right in my understanding that once someone has picked one of the 7 character types its gone from the pool for the others?

I'm hopng to make a start on mine this evening (if its a quiet shift) so wanted to make sure it was clear in my head.

By the rules as written, yes, you're correct. That said, I'm not too precious about it. If there's two of you desperate to take the thief, then go ahead, but it would be cool if you picked different talents.

Btw, no one really needs to worry about knowing the rules particularly. I'm happy to walk us all through it on the night. In fact I'll do it right now.

In the game, if you're attempting a skill, you'll roll a d12 and add a mod from a pertinent trait (you have 6 of them). I oppose it with my own roll.

In combat you roll 2d10 and add them together, looking to beat the armour class of your opponent. Different types of weapon get bonuses depending on the environment you're fighting in. One of your d10 should be a a unique colour. If that comes up a 10, you've hit your opponent in the face for extra damage.

Awesome points. You get awarded these by the other players. Or for wearing no armour. You spend them to do cool extra things.

I spend them to do cool stuff with my monsters. When I spend the pot is filled for the players to take from.

Everything else is a unique case and is listed on your sheet.

Easy, but powerful.

Will anyone be around on G+ tonight? I've not done a hangout before and would like to test that my camera/mic work with it. It should only take a few minutes, sometime after 8.00. I'm Neil Smith there.

Sadly I'll have to pass as Friday in the Cabe of the Magus (studio flat in South London) consists of getting tired and emotional, ranting about the state of the NHS and my colleagues, taking my clothes off and primal screaming. Anyone interested in joining my hangout?

I am curious to know how this turns out. I'm not so much bothered to hear an AP report but would like to know how it went technically. I was wondering if people would also find Cosketch of use? Also, if it is great what does DPM think of setting up a Google Hangouts sub-forum to arrange games?

Hi Neil,

I'll give you a shout at 8. Honestly there's nothing to it. I think you'll be surprised.

Cheers,

Baz

Only if we're allowed to rant about other topics too.

Magus wrote:would like to know how it went technically

From the games we've been playing its technically great. Importing pictures or using a common sketchpad is all integrated, so I don't think you'll need something like Cosketch (although I didn't look at it properly).

Occasionally someone might lost connection, but that's an individual's issue rather than the technology and everyone's been back in within a couple of minutes - largely though its stable.

The only odd bit to get around is that people tend to start talking all at the same time, or all shut at once, so conversation takes a little while to get used to, but its not a major issue.

Magus wrote:Also, if it is great what does DPM think of setting up a Google Hangouts sub-forum to arrange games?

That's not a bad idea, if there's appetite. Have a Bennie* I might look to do some playtesting or would like to receive some tasters of hippy games, rather than having to dedicate a con slot to them. Two hours is a good run time, although it could easily go longer.

I've never really looked at any other VTT, and given how easy and free G+ is, I'm not sure I've any reason to!
