Too cool for school
Re: Too cool for school
Neil, the echoing seems to come and go. At one point, several weeks ago, it was exceptionally bad and G+ tech support advised people to download the latest release of the voice chat app. I think that most of you on this Friday session will have recently downloaded the later release so that's an unlikely fix.
I suspect that it may be down to people using microphones built in to their computer/laptop rather than external headsets (another G+ tech suggestion). It has been suggested that the group member who can't hear the feedback is the one causing it so it might be worth muting audio in turn until the source of the problem is pinpointed.
Connectivity issues are usually down to poor quality connections. I moved to a wired connection rather than a wireless link to improve my experience. Rural users will have issues and I haven't seen a low-bandwidth option other than turning off the video feed to conserve bandwidth for audio.

I will have a problem with most Fridays but I'm interested in trying the system and format.
If it's likely to be a disruption having me as an "occasional" I fully understand. (I fancy Dwarf, if It's an option but any vacancy will do; except the Goblin's pet Jermlaine of course.).
Don't see why not! We're adventuring around a busy dungeon, so coming across lone adventurers/lost scholars/escaped prisoners is all part of the plan.
Go ahead and roll up your dwarf. If its ok I'd like to seed you with a mission too (which I utterly forgot to give to everyone else and have been racking my brains wondering how to get it in late!)

Re: Too cool for school
Yeah. that sounds about right - I was using an internal mic on a wireless laptop. It improved when I moved the settings from default to actually specify the internal mic etc. Wired is an option where I play, so I'll try that next time.

Ok then, here's Ragr's mission, which I assume he'll be sharing with the rest of the crew
The suites furnishings are simple. The hooded figure asks you to sit while he fetches his employer. He leaves through a closed door across the room. Moments later a very well dressed female human takes a seat opposite you.
"Please excuse my caution" she says in a voice that reveals both refinement and worry. "I have some standing in the city, and I do not wish others to know my plight. I am Lady Lestra of House Urmbrusk.
My nephew, Rutherford, went into the dungeon four weeks ago. Nothing has been heard from him or his five companions since. His father, my brother, disappeared in the same dungeon three years ago. Before he left, Rutherford swore his fathers whispered voice spoke to him, imploring him to bring a rescue party into the dungeon. I told my nephew it was folly, but the impetuousness of youth and his fathers blood won out.
Rumour has it you intend to enter this twice cursed place on business of your own. I offer 100 pieces of gold to your party to look for Rutherford as you travel and to keep this information to yourselves. If you recover my nephew, or provide proof of his demise, I offer a reward many times this small sum."
Any questions?

Easier to say what we don't have.
Cleric
Having said that, doubling up is doable, but I'd advise having different talents to differentiate. You'd be very welcome!
(blimey... Never been so popular...)
