Pathfinder - crafting a concentration item
Hey,
Curious as to what the Pathfinder DMs/Players think about this question.
In Pathfinder, Concentration is no longer a skill - as it was in 3.5.
So, what happens if you want to craft an item that gives a bonus to concentration?
a) can you, or can't you?
b) if you can, aside from the craft skill (wondrous item, ring, whatever), what "spell" would you need to cast?
c) if you can, how much would it cost to craft?
Regarding point (a), you could in 3.5, so can you in PF?
Regarding point (b), there are no spells that give a concentration bonus. But, when crafting a metamagic rod, all you need is the relevant metamagic feat (as well as craft rod). So would a concentration-improving feat (or even trait) suffice?
Regarding point (c), do you classify a "+4" concentration bonus as an ability score (16,000gp to buy, 8,000 to make) or as a skill score (1,600gp to buy, 800 to make)?
What d'ya reckon?
Cheers,
A.

Re: Pathfinder - crafting a concentration item
I'm not quite sure of the purpose of your question. As the concentration skill no longer exists, it is pointless getting any bonus to the concentration skill.
There are however still concentration checks and they can be improved through the feat Combat Casting. So in theory I see no reason why you couldn't build an item with an enchantment bonus to concentration checks.
I'm not sure what spell requirements I would have but I personally would cost it at around 5000GP as long as it filled an item slot that made sense. Although the concentration bonus acts quite like a skill I would be hesitant to cost it as cheap since the feat is the only way to increase it outside it's normal growth.
Talk you your GM about it.

Laugh, and the world laughs with you,
Cry, and you cry alone.

Re: Pathfinder - crafting a concentration item
I'd charge a concentration item as granting a feat (Combat Casting), so somewhere in the region of 25,000 (similar to a ring of Evasion)

Spellguard Bracers
Price 5,000 gp; Aura faint abjuration; CL 4th; Weight 1 lb.
Typically made of leather dyed blue and decorated with star-shaped studs, these bracers are used by spellcasters who practice their art in the heat of combat. The bracers grant the wearer a +2 bonus on concentration checks made to cast defensively. Three times per day, the wearer can choose to roll a concentration check to cast defensively twice and take the better result.
Tunic of Careful Casting
Price 5,000 gp; Aura faint abjuration; CL 3rd; Weight 1 lb.
This woolen garment is decorated with a pattern of linked chains embroidered in silver and black thread. It assists the wearer with maintaining focus during spellcasting, granting a +2 bonus on Concentration checks.
BOTH are just adding a bonus so stack!!
1 item (+4) would cost 20,000gp
