What are you doing this year at Consequences?

Postby Clareg » 12:03pm on 17 Sep 10

I know it’s a bit early to start the squee but last year I was feeling very nervous about running Veteran’s Day and pretty much missed all the pre-con chatter. This year I’m one of the GMs for “Miss Maypole” and feeling much happier about my abilities as a GM. My only previous experience was helping with Diamond Geezers which once the prep is done is very easy to run. With Veteran’s I think I was definitely feeling novice GM nerves at running a much larger game - I was probably a slight shade of green at the start.

Anyway, I’m playing four games:

The Linfarn Run – a sci-fi game written by one of my favourite writers
Haunted - "Revamped" – my first Bad Girlz Larp, I’ve heard great things about “Blood Manor” over the years so I’m really looking forward to this.
The Fall of the House of Basset – didn’t get to play any Epic games last year so I’m highly anticipating the mayhem that Epic tend to generate
The Clockwork Café – intrigue, spies, adventurers, master-criminals – need I say more
So what are you guys up to? Is there anybody attending for the first time or a dedicated tabletop player trying out a freeform? Any tabletop games caught your eye? – I’m hoping to fit at least one in over the weekend.

I am signed up for the following two LARPs:
  • Les Invités Non Invités
  • The Quality of Mercy
I am also down to GM a Doctor Who tabletop and will likely offer to run some other tabletop games and bring some board games (Shadows over Camelot for example).

I am looking forward to a chilled out convention, as opposed to the hectic schedule I usually follow at Conception.

Running lots of stuff (mainly tabletop plus a couple of freeforms) and hoping the timing works to get in to Grants Dr Who game 'cause I've not played the system yet and want to give it a try :-)

I am signed up for the following two LARPs:

Les Invités Non Invités
The Quality of Mercy

Les Invités Non Invités is a game I really wanted to play but unfortunately I have a fair distance to travel and don't like booking games for the Thursday night in case I am late or too shattered.

Have you played in any of the previous Landston games? I really like the idea of a campaign freeform which new players can join in. I'm hoping Tylorva writes a sequel to last year's 40K game which I had a great time in despite being doomed from the start!

hoping the timing works to get in to Grants Dr Who game

Dr Who is one of the many tabletop games I have my eye on although I seem to have left myself very little non-larp space this year

I suspect I might be spending my time badgering Grant to run his Dr.Who game again... unless of course I'm lucky enough to get to play it first time...:)

The rest of the time I'll be a seatfiller for whatever T/T or boardgame is on offer. ( I may even bring along a scenario of my own... )

Along with Mik I'm the other writer / Gm for Les Invités Non Invités on Thursday night which seems have be a scary popular choice seeing at it is the first LARP that I've written! If it all goes according to plan (or at least someones plan!) then there is a good chance that it will get another run at some point.

I'm going to run a session of card / board games on Friday & Saturday morning, and possibly as session of my Dead of Night / Grave Robbers From Outer Space mash-up if there is enough time between playing four LARP's and some chillin' time!

I too seek a place in Grant's Doctor Who tabletop game, but I have played before.

I have only played one tabletop game of Landston, I wasn't at Consequences last year and so didn't play in the LARP then. I know some people who did though and they are coming back for seconds so it can't be bad! :)

Well, I am a fairly big Doctor Who fan but new and old series and just had to get the RPG. Judging from the comments here I will likely be able to run the game at least twice :)

I definitely want to do a sequel for it at some point. It's just trying to find space to fit it in that's the problem!

I believe 29 players out of the 33 who played last year have signed up for more this year. Thus I think we must be doing something right! :D

As for the games I'm in - as usual, quite a lot:

-Les Invités Non Invités
-Davy Jones' Locker
-B.A.D. Books
-Haunted - "Revamped"
-Happy Birthday, Jonathan!
-The Quality of Mercy (GM!!!)

Due to Amiee's work schedule I shall only be there in Thursday, Friday and Saturday night. I'll be doing the social thing on Thursday, helping with Haunted on Friday and doing fiddly things with a spreadsheet and election mechanics in Landston on Saturday. Yes, I get to combine two of my greatest passions in a LARP setting for the first time ever - gaming and politics! If only there was a Metal soundtrack and redhead strippers* the night would be utterly complete.

Let's see, for me it's the following:

  • Thursday - Les Invités Non Invités
  • Saturday - Slash & The Quality of Mercy
Friday I'm hoping to find some tabletop or similar (hopefully the Digital Mage will let me play in his Dr.Who game  ), or just spend the time barricading my door to stop Mr.Kennedy's nocturnal ramblings.

I'm looking forward to 'Slash' though - fanfiction appeals to the creatively twisted side of my nature.
