1. Lamentations Of The Flame Princess
But you just slagged of Woodland Warriors for being based on OD&D and now you want to play yet another OD&D retro clone?

Re: At Indiecon i wanna play
Didnt really slag it off though, i said i was disappointed that a particular genre used that system, when i was expecting something a little less linier. For old school dungeoning with a slight horror slant ala LotFP it will work perfectly fine for me, system really does matter to me

Re: At Indiecon i wanna play
LotFP is actually a BD&D clone, not an OD&D clone. [/Pedant]
But I might run some, all the same.

I also write a regular column here about roleplaying games and what we're really doing when we play them. It's kinda dry, but hopefully interesting to at least someone.

Re: At Indiecon i wanna play
I'd like to play
Houses of the Blooded
Smallville (although not actually in a DC superhero universe, some other setting that's cool instead)
Either Diaspora or Apocalypse World (with someone who really knows what they're doing and has the chops to run it in one slot, rather than fanny about over several man-days).

Re: At Indiecon i wanna play
I would like to play a whack of story games that last for 20-30 minutes tops. Games that last 3-4 hours are officially dead to me. (Yeah, that's officially.)
I'd also like these games to tackle genres and topics outside of the ghetto of fantasy, space opera - hard science fiction that positions issues at the fore is fine -, mysteries - fegh -, and it's-not-really-horror-but-we-will-just-kid-along-that-it-is.
Games that draw inspiration from the poetry of Lermontov will excite especial interest, so do bear that in mind. Yeah, I'm mindful that the echo that's bouncing off the inside of my bum as I speak these words is deafening, but I'm keen to move poetry and performance front and center. I've been talking about it too long, and it's time to crack on with flyting and verse form.
I'm also interested in games that blur the boundaries between performance and role-playing. Forex, one of the things I've been thinking about is The Railroad. It's a 20-minute performance of an RPG session where every line, die roll, and slice of table chatter is scripted: to play, you just read the script, with no hesitation, deviation, or repetition. I think this will be fun the first time around - er, maybe only if one is French - but will bear fruit with repeated plays, where the participants spend 2 hours replaying the same totally scripted game over and over and over again. It's a commentary, performance, and game all in one easy package! Charlie Sheen would totally play this.
I will also be bringing a bonsai tree along so that folk can hug it prior to each game to get themselves into the right space; the tree is thus both a liminal device, delineating the boundary between real-life and the RP-life of the session, and also a statement of intent, annoncing that this is HippieVille, Population 23.
Cheers

Pete,

Dude, that whole The Railroad thing sounds intense. I'm not into men, but if I was, and if you were, I'd totally have a man-crush on you. I love how you've taken something that everyone bitches about, namely railroading, and brought it front and center - I gotta say, it's blowing my mind!
:: the star of Kalixos IV goes supernova, part of a chain reaction from Kid Omega's mind being blown open ::
Hey, maybe you could incorporate some of Indie Rich's "stencil" idea from his Little Game Chef entry from a years ago? Have the script, but have it degrade and present lacunae as the play repeats itself? That way folk could still participate in more than just a performance.
