[Witch] Mahoosive Thanks!
Just wanted to say a massive thanks to everyone who ran, played and purchased a copy of Witch.
I was completely overwhelmed at the amount of (Witch) games that were ran, by all the compliments and the amount people (who I didn't even know) just talking about their own experiences with the game.
The plan is to continue development of the game and get it released in a full blown copy. With that in mind if you did buy an ash-can copy from me at Indiecon please PM your name as we want to (at least) add you to the thanks in the next print run.
If you have any feedback/criticism I'd be more than happy to hear it!
I will also be writing a full con report shortly...
Also look out for more Pompey Crew Design stuff in the future!
Cheers

I've been reading my copy since I got back and I can't seem to find any rules. Am I missing some of the text?

Re: [Witch] Mahoosive Thanks!
I will echo the large majority of people; this was my game of the con!
The concept is conducive to the creation of stirring story-arches, powerful dialogue and lyrical scenes. The characters felt real which made their choices much more poignant. Unlike some other narrative games where the players often pull in different directions, I felt that there was a common vision, assisted by the structure of the game.
Thanks to Toad for running this (and for designing it of course) and to the players around the table for creating a strong story for Eloise.
Many thanks,
Elina

Re: [Witch] Mahoosive Thanks!
Yep, Witch was game of the weekend for me too. Suitably enhanced by the star-power of having Mr Toad himself in the game. Well done to all involved in the writing and testing. Job's a good'un.
But now I fear that we must ration Witch playing, lest we gorge ourselves on it like a box of Krispy Kremes and make the other games jealous.

Re: [Witch] Mahoosive Thanks!
I don't know that I'd play much differently necessarily - I suppose in some parts it depends on which character you are.
I was 'Sir' Thorne, and based on what little you know about him to start with (not a complaint by the way - thought the amount of info given was spot on) I played him dark, brooding and very conflicted. Would I play the other characters in this way? - No. Would I play Thorne again this way? - Possibly, it would depend on what else was going on and the interaction between the players.
The only thing I'd try to do differently would be to get into character a bit quicker - but this is a common issue for me in a new game, especially a one shot. It takes a whlie to discover the character - especially one you've not created yourself. However from what I could tell, this is part of the game of Witch - answering those questions about your character. However even when I started to get a picture of the character it took me some time to get into the feel of the game. I deliberately tried not to answer the questions immediately but to see what came up through the game - and for me this worked well.
If/when I play again (Conception at a guess if it's run) I'd approach my character in the same way - just an impression of them to start with and then answer the questions as the game pans out.

Re: [Witch] Mahoosive Thanks!
I was toying with the idea of choosing randomly and not seeing whether she is guilty or innocent up until the revellation point in the end. I can then play her entirely ambiguously, acting as she saw fit to persuade each party, irrespective of what she actually is.
I also had an idea for a modern version: a convicted terrorist being transported to a facility for his execution. This would touch upon modern fears and moral dilemmas.
