Karen's Indiecon
Indiecon 3..
Arriving at Naish.... As one of the organisers and one of a few people who now has to travel from abroad to the con..I was pleased to find that hurricane winds hadn’t hit the park as they did last year. Arriving thursday lunch time, Chris and I found to our delight that several people had already arrived at the park. We knew from the Lodge bookings that a lot more people were going to attend, from the previous year - 17 confirmed lodge bookings at Indiecon 2 to around 40 this year
Now thursday tends to be my favourite day of the con.. mainly because I get to see old friends from the year before, but also because I know that I'm going to make new ones. At Indiecon we like to keep things stress free and simple, and I think this comes across to those that attend. I get great pleasure from reading comments from people saying that Indiecon is probably one of the 'friendliest conventions'. It is important to us that everyone that attends has a great time, but that we and our support team also have fun
Ok, so normally at the con.. I tend to spend allot of time on the front desk:) but this year Thursday evening I was invited to play a game first thing Friday morning with the lovely Brenda from the Dutch invaders... JAWS of the Six Serpents. I'd invited my best friend to the event, Lisa and she was keen to find out about 'this roleplaying lark' so we signed up. Well we had a scream.. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. With her 'captain caveman' rucksack how she somehow managed to produce a rubber dingy and a pair of stilettos from it I’ll never know but it was very funny.. I also now have whale speech burned into my brain .. thank you Bob
Other highlights for me.. Saturday and Claire Bear arrived.. looking absolutely fabulous having lost 3 1/2 stone with her fat free chicken sausages and a copy of 'The Lady' magazine, which i will definitely subscribe to. lol
Joy and Jasmine. also a big thank you to them, jasmine especially for encouraging me to jump into the ball pit with her shhhhh, you didn't hear me say that.
)
Seeing the main hall so full, I loved that. This year, I believe we really established ourselves as a convention, not only was the main hall full most of the time, but we also had games being played in the corridors and seating areas.
Thank you’s – to our team.. Andrew, Duncan R, Duncan W, John L and Chaz It was also really great to see the lovely John A who managed to drop in to see us all and of course to all the gamers and traders who came to support the con x

Re: Karen's Indiecon
It was brilliant to have both you and Lisa in my game
You rocked
And indeed, Indiecon is a very friendly con, so the Dutch Invaders will most likely be back next year.
