Pathfinder Society at Dragonmeet 2010

Postby Thod » 10:20pm on 16 Nov 10

We are back this year and plan to run at least 5 scenarios a Dragonmeet in London.

We aim for new Pathfinders (tier 1-2) as well as offering at least one table/slot for tier 3/4 or even 5+

No problem if you are a new player. We have pre-generated characters. Just come along, sit down and have fun with one of our experienced Game Masters.

For up-to-date information please have a look at the Paizo message board or here.

We will accept players on the spot - but reservation is recommended as it just makes my life a lot easier. Just drop a message here and I will keep a place open for you. Indicate the level of your character, morning or afternoon as well as preferred scenario (Rescue at Azlant Ridge is only played in the afternoon and if you played Bloodcove Disguise in the morning).

The list of scenarios on offer is:
#2-01: Before the Dawn—Part I: The Bloodcove Disguise (PFRPG)
#2-02: Before the Dawn—Part II: Rescue at Azlant Ridge (PFRPG)
#5: Mists of Mwangi (OGL)
#35: Voice in the Void (PFRPG)
#45: Delirium's Tangle (PFRPG)

Mist of the Mwangi and Voices in the Void should be played in full 3D scenery using Dwarvenforge Den of Evil and Realm of the Ancients.

I would be interested in a game. My name is Dale....does that count as registering?
I will have 1st level character and would like either slot.
Mwangi sounds interesting.

Dale

Yes - I've now a slot reserved for you. Just arrive in time to ensure we don't have to hand it on to someone else. It probably would be best if you take the morning slot. I plan to have Mwangi in both slots - but it is prime slot in the morning and reserve in the afternoon.
In the morning it is likely you will have me as GM. I've planned something special for the Mwangi Scenario. I hope I will be able to generate a great experience with the scenario.

First level character: do you need any help/advice. PFS uses point buy with 20 points and all basic races / professions are available. I will have some pregens that can be changed on the day - but time will probably allow only a limited number of changes.

There are quite a few GMs around as well as experienced players who can help - but we will have to start on time.

Looking forward to seeing you

I would be interested in playing both parts of Before The Dawn. I have a L2 Wizard (or a L5 Bard if its to be higher level). Thanks.

With the GM line up right now it is more likely to play with a lower level character both parts of Before the Dawn.

Currently I have only one GM for the second part. Maybe I need to check if I can get a second GM to be ready. The big issue is, that I plan totally in the dark. So feedback here helps me a lot and I try to work it in as best as possible.

So there will be one higher level table - but it could be Rebels Ransom in the morning and a different tier 5-6 in the afternoon. Hmm - re-reading this - might have to juggle Rebels Ransom to the afternoon to ensure my other higher tier GM is free for part 2 which can only be played in the afternoon.

I'm watching this here and keep you updated. Great to see interested players.

Terry

I've jotted you down. I will try to give an overview whom I have down for which game.

It doesn't help that I won't know until five minutes ahead of the games if I have enough players - put I try my best.

So far:
5 players with high level (5-7) characters. Some also have lower ones
One player for Mist of Mwangi
And you for both season two

I will try to get these two filled first and then see how others fill up.

Am I definitely down for both parts of Before the Dawn? And what time does the first game start? Also, does anyone know what time I should start queuing to get inside in time for the start (I have a ticket already)?

Are people really allowed to pre-book places in these games prior to the Con? Don't get me wrong- you wouldn't catch me dead playing Pathfinder or any of its ilk, but it does strike me as being a bit rubbish for those who have paid to get in on the day looking for a game only to find them already full, especially a double slot which is quite frankly plain greedy!

Anyone from Dragonmeet care to comment?

Sorry if you feel offended by the pre- booking. As I'm organizing this It didn't occur to me that people could feel offended. You are right - someone buys a ticket and can't get a space - that would be bad. At the same time - someone comes from far away - we have a player from Scotland - and off course I want to ensure he has a secured space.

And especially higher level scenarios need some organization. For example I might have to try to get a second game of part II Bloodcoove Disguise in. Are people greedy who want to play both - well - this is a two parter. You are supposed to play both.

I'm trying to have multiple GMs and try to be helpful. I also try to add tables based on feedback and interest here. Last year I did only two tables and we did another one on the spot as people couldn't play. It's only my second time - so if I offend - please someone from Dragonmeet comment.

Unfortunately there is no booking system that Dragonmeet allows. Right now there should be 80% of spots free. So I hope nobody walking by will be turned away if I can avoid it. Off course if LOTS of people stroll by that could be an issue.

Hi

Avatar - there's quite a few Pathfinder GM's attending Dragonmeet this year. (As were last year). Bound to be other scenarios we can run.If we can't get the exact scenario we want, we can always download it & run it at our own clubs, or even Conception.

Just wondering what your personal interest is. From your comments it's unlikely you'll be on one of our PFS tables. Totally understand if you're concerned that something you're interested in, is oversubscribed, though.......

I'm travelling from Gloucester, (I'll be up for at LEAST 22 hours straight), and I'll have a good time. Hope you enjoy yourself too.......

Thanks

I'm guessing it's a principle thing. At a Con, especially a one day Con that isn't cheap to get in to, you'd expect to be able to walk through the door and have a chance of getting in to a game. If I'd turned up to play something I think I'd be pissed off to find out that all of the slots had been booked up before I'd even walked through the door. I'm not sure how valid the argument 'OK, you came from Kent, but this guy came from Scotland, so he deserves to have a game and you don't' actually is.

In the end it's up to the Con organisors to be happy about it or not, but I think if you know you've got three tables of games for two slots full (or whatever) before you arrive then you might just as well play in a church hall somewhere rather than take up space at a Con. Aside from anything else you run the risk of being labeled as 'that game where everyone plays with there mates and new people can't get in' which has definitely hit other bits of the hobby in the past.

I realise 'Living games are special', but I think the culture of 'games for mates' is one of the worse sides of Conventions.

Nope, nothing else to add to that, other then to hope that every poor freezing basrard standing in the line on Saturday morning, even those who happen to live just round the corner from the Con get into a game if they want one, and don't miss out due to not knowing the Secret Handshake!
