Was on a works night out last night for a soon-to-be-redundant colleagues and somehow talked myself into doing the next floortalk for 200 people and possibly getting a job in the Czech Republic, but that won't be for a while so I should be good for next week. Hurrah!

Peturabo wrote:Moment of the game: Toad charges a wall, repeatedly. It might have been better to charge the survivors standing next to the wall, but Toad was keen to really teach those bricks a lesson. And boy, did he learn them.

:?: Like I told you last night, those survivors kept moving around! The wall was an easier target.

I had a couple of favourite moments:

1. Pete and his outstanding tanking skillz, I've never seen Tanks dodge Molotov's like I saw last night. Pete was a complete Tanker!

2. The fact we played through 5 rounds of the Carnival campaign and we were so close (1pt behind) going into the finale. They were up first and completed around 75% of the level. Then we stood up and it was all over in the space of a couple of minutes....oops!

Peturabo wrote:You might be thinking "eh, that was the moment of the game?" Well, maybe you had to be there, but lemme tell you that the only thing more fun than that - in a geeky way - is playing a character that's unconscious in the back of a truck for three hours of a con game of Shadowrun.

 Damn right!

Peturabo wrote:L4D2 is a bit harder than L4D in Versus it seems, to me at least. Also, it's not as satisfying pounding in the face of x00b1998 and __warkraftrox__ when what you really want to do is smash EvilGaz1967 and DP_DundeeUnited4Ever_McAlister to pieces.

I don't mind playing L4D1 if it means more people (like you Dave) can play.

I will try and arrange something concrete for next week.

Yeah, word.

I'm not really about playing L4D2. I'd rather play L4D with Dave and Gaz and everyone else as opposed to L4D2 with __warkraftrox__ and his 1337 buddies. And not just because I'm a bit rubbish and I tire of being told "ffs, n00b, vote to kick, moar sealz".

I've no idea if Scarlet can run any of the L4D stuff, fancy letting me know the URL for that site so I can have a check? I'm guessing it's going to be something very obvious, but actually being told the URL would be nicer than guessing it...

As I previously stated, I can't do L4D1 now. As its cost me a packet in excess download charges to get the updates for L4D2 (stoopid landlord) I'd quite like to play that.

Maybe we can alternate between the two and DPM and I can tag team in and out?

Sounds fair and reasonable. Once a fortnight will probably be easier to get away with with the missus anyway ;)

Thanks for the URL, have just run it and Scarlet hits 'recommended' level for both games, so I'll have a quick chat to make sure there's no problems buying the game and get the double pack for 23 quid from Steam. That's where people play, right? I'm a complete noob at this (well, attempted to play Motocross Madness on line about 10 years ago, but it didn't really work!)

OK, unless someone can confirm that Steam has been having some sort of account creation/logging in problem, or knows exactly which breed of chicken I need to sacrifice to get an account to register and work, I'll not be available.

I've so far tried creating two different accounts, both get as far as confirming the email address successfully but when I then try to log in to them they fail to authenticate. Eventually it adds a Capture, which also fails to work. Trying to get it to email back to me so I can check details, or change passwords also fails (says it is sending an email and then nothing arrives anywhere). I've tried going through the support options but when it eventually gets to an option to possibly mail someone my problem I select it and get - 'Helpdesk Error' already logged in - not sure why that counts as an error, but there you go...

Anyway, I'm sure it works fine for everyone else, but nearly 2 hours pissing about trying to get connected is about my limit so I'll give it another try in a couple of days (maybe from the work PC) and unless that gives me some new options to get things working from home, I'll not be able to join in.

Quite grumpy about being denied access to playing games now.

Man, that blows :x

In the spirit of trying to be helpful, although i reckon you've tried this, have you attempted to register by using a different browser? I use Chrome these days, and I can confirm that Steam works fine on that. (At least as regards logging in, since I am of course already registered.)

Let us know how you get on on Monday from work or wherever. In the nicest of ways, I'd love to stove your zombiefied head in with a guitar, so we need to get this sorted like srsly.

Cheers

You can buy Left 4 Dead 2 for just £3.75 on Steam right now.

I think that price is just for today though, so you'd have to nip in sharpish if you want it.
