My Thanks

Postby cmantito » 12:42pm on 07 Nov 11

Thanks everyone, had a good con.

Played Witch with Indie Pete, was quite good. I was guilty (gasp and horror!)

Ran Inspectres for Ian, Jenny, Mark and Barbara. Thanks for being so much fun guys :) We had 3 missions:
- The "Grune Geist", a German goblin parking warden who melted poorly parked cars
- The disappearance of Margaret Rule Hall in Pompey, where a crazy physics professor accidentally artificially aged the building into dust, and our team of Inspectres had to MacGyver a "Temporal Necronomiphone" to contact the now-deceased professor, which they successfully did after blowing the bank buying some Star Trek geeks lifetime subscriptions to Star Trek Online and nearly getting flattened by a ghost train due to poorly reciting German necromantic incantations - only to find out they needed to acquire an Age-o-matron to de-age the buildilng.
- And finally, after finding out that their CEO has a chicken grease fetish, they had to investigate a Poultrygeist ("El Pollo Diablo") haunting the local KFC. After trying to hunt some foxes with Fluffy Bottom, the fourth Duke of Whimsy, to find El Zorro Celeste, who would chase the poultygeist away, they accidentally captured a few men in fox suits instead. They did manage to capture the poultrygeist in a tardis-like-refrigerator, however, that they had been keeping the "foxes" in.

Quotes of the game:
"Cry havoc and let loose the foxes of war!"
"I keep hitting them but they won't leave the fridge!"
"We need some way to hold it still while we grease the chicken up."
"Bring the stuffed falcon!"
"Three furries in a Smeg fridge."

I'd certainly like to add my thanks to everyone for a great con.
I've run Airship Pirates so many times recently, but I still had such fun running it again!
It was my first time running One Ring too, so thanks to all the players there for making it such fun.

Mind you, double thanks to the group I played Manners and Monstrosities with.
I've never seen a group so intent of avoiding plot so they could go back to dancing.
Fighting off the werewolf by reciting French was just brilliant too.

I had sooooo much fun in Manners and Monstrosities! The sheer frivolity of it! It was the game I laughed most in at the con. Plus, I got to know the power of French poetry in the battle against the undead!

I have the cutest photo of Sam holding his fan in a ladylike manner... I am toying with the idea of posting it somewhere. The published version of the game should have in the final pages somewhere instructions on how to make oregami fans!

Many thanks for running this for us. Apologies for neglecting your plot, but there were more important things at stake, such as the prospect of an advantageous marriage and a charming dancing partner!

The Manners & Monstrosities Game was hilarious. We had a great group, and OMG the french poetry... I'll never forget the way that turned out. I love the way the GM rolled with it though :D

@Elina: I would love to see your pics! Can you put them up on Facebook or something? Can't wait to see Sam fluttering his fan <3
