No idea. I heard about it months after it was planned so I'm not involved.

I believe that there are plans for a game/social interaction on the Fri and a further game on the Sat evening. The plan would be that they experience games they may not have had a chance to play yet with everybody else during the day.

This is not an official answer just what I have been told.

I've heard it's a chance to meet 'socially' and play a couple of games in the evening, other than that it's jump in at the deep end with 'new stuff,'...
Just what I've heard from one of the chaps...

Ok guys, to make sure we are all on the same page,

we are opening this up as it was requested and makes a lot of sense as those involved are also keen to try other stuff. Will add extra gamers with an open mind and I am confident of that.

Is this something that is exclusive? or can any of us grab a 3rd ed character and play some of the sarb stuff?

That is a good question, either they can jump in here or I will touch base with them in any case.

Cool...i think as an invitation only event using indiecons facilities is a bit of a cop out to be honest, to open some of the old school sarb scenarios would be a nice gesture

My understanding was that it would be new scenarios.

Dan Jewell is organizing the Sarb reunion, but I've talked to him about this extensively, so I'll try to reply on his behalf.

The idea was to have a celebration of the old Sarb campaign. Its deliberately being scheduled over three sessions, the first Friday evening and the follow-ups don't start till late Saturday. Hopefully, this will get the Sarb players to Indiecon to try out some new games between the Friday get together and the Saturday game as a minimum.

We 're doing a count of players versus DM's. Dan has collared several of us who aren't familiar with the Sabr game, just to increase the Ref base. This means that we will have spare spaces. The characters are being generated at three different levels, so we will be able to produce pre-gens, to allow others to join.

This is not an old scenario. It is a custom written scenario that runs over the three slots, so anyone playing should try to play all three slots. But the first slot is basically an extended hire and introduction to the game world ( with a celebration of past endeavors assisted with copious amounts of alcohol ) so anyone not familiar will be able to get up to speed pretty quickly.

We trying something a bit different that hopefully will get some die-hard D&D players a chance to come to a con and play some alternate games, and at teh same time be a good mini-campaign run during the con.

Thankyou for that reply, cleared things up and the fact your offering some places to general con goers is good :)

Well Met All,

As Mick has stated the Reunion is being held at IndieCon, thanks to Chris, Karen and Duncan for making this possible. This event could be best described as a Mini Campaign that takes place over three slots. You do not need to have a previous Sarb Character to be able to take part and we already have a number of players taking part that have never previously played Sarb or 3.5 D&D.

A facebook event was created a little while ago to gauge interest and so far over 35 players are signed up and the section below is the blurb with a little adjustment that was posted in the facebook group.

To all those that have a place in our hearts and at our gaming tables for Sarb, I would like to thank you for the contribution you made over the years.

To celebrate the impact the City, our fellow Players and the Characters we once played had on one another. I have managed to secure spaces and accommodation at IndieCon 2011. The dates are 3rd-6th November 2011. See their website for further details. http://www.indiecon.net/index.html

So what's the plan for the reunion, well maybe bring your old character sheets, certs, dice and miniature and then the magic will happen. Even if you have lost your PC don't worry we'll help you with that as this is about us all have fun with none of the bureaucracy and even if you want to bring a friend to take part that has never played it’s not a problem.

The reunion will be faith based, though any absurd or over complicated rules (including errata), you'll need to bring to facilitate a smooth day, not just for yourself but for everyone involved. If any of you ever played Living Death it will be similar in design to the manner they kept track of your PC. Concise guidelines for the Reclamation Series are available. Currently we have eleven GMs and seven experienced Sarb GMs have offered their services for the weekend.

The Reclamation Series (Part One of Three):

A Social Interactive set in the Elks Roost, Slot 3 (Friday 19:00 - 23:00) Location: bar area (costumes optional).

The year is 1377DR: The Year of the Haunting and your return to the city of Sarb after a few years away, coincides with festivities at the Elk Roost celebrating the past, present and future of the troubled city. You were not alone in your journey to the city, a pilgrimage of previous adventurers descend on to the fabled city.

The Reclamation Series (Part Two of Three):

The events at the Elks Roost have lead you on an independent scavenger hunt around the Realms. A Classic Table Top Adventure, Slot 6 (Saturday 19:00 - 23:00)

Special: both tabletop adventures are individual and unique adventures which are only being GMed for that group of players only. Each group will have an individual event that will be unique but will combine to the overall arc the weekend will present.

The Reclamation Series (Part Three of Three):

Those responsible for the haunting of Sarb become apparent. A cooperative table top experience Slot 7 (Sunday 09:00 - 13:00).

Special: both tabletop adventures are individual and unique adventures which are only being GMed for that group of players only. Each group will have an individual event that will be unique but will combine to the overall arc the weekend will present.

To Chris, Karen, the IndieCon Volunteers, The Pompey Crew, and to the Volunteers that help me organise the weekends Reunion, and especially to all those who took part over the weekend.

Thank you, I couldn’t have managed this without your support, willingness, zeal and belief in the Community of Sarbreenar.

The weekend was a major success;

The interactive on the Friday was absolutely amazing and the instantaneous switch into the characters and setting we have so much pride for, ranks with my best memories of roleplaying. I was in awe of the attendance, support and participation of friends old and new, coming together for a bash that was somewhat in my eyes very overdue. Some friends were unable to attend, they were mentioned with reverence and respect, remembering the people that have been there for us in the 15 years of the campaign. We miss them.

Saturday Classic table top was slightly chaotic and ran on slightly for some of us! The individual narratives provided us with the ability to fight back at the individual threats that haunt the city. The GM’s who wrote and believed in the theme for the weekend, I thank you. Your individual perspective and willingness to have me lead you towards a unified Sarbreenar, inspired me, I thank you again. I’m sorry the boxed text was a little long and to some a big surprise!

Sunday Cooperative was great, with each table defending a Sarbreenar centric location it grounded us in the city we want to play in. The sense of community and friendship was overwhelming, it was a shame the day ended. Though the afternoon had one of the greatest moments, the catch up, Heroes of Sarbreenar, relaxing in the bar after a great convention, forging and renewing friendships was the icing of the weekend. I could finally relax.

Sarbreenar ended that day, with the city bruised and beaten, physically in ruins, though the friends it has bought together, it has never looked so bright to me. I would like to Thank you the Players, the GM’s and to all those who believed in this weekend. I have had nothing but overwhelmingly positive feedback for the weekend.

I went to Indiecon expecting to spend time playing obscure indie games and talking to cool people I knew were going...and whilst I did do some of that , (indeed, most of the cool people happily spoke back to me) I also ended up being inducted into the Sarbreenar reunion and playing D&D3.5 twice.

End result: the best UK con I've attended for ages. A great atmosphere, busy and varied. New RPG players (Joe Red, 17, such enthusiasm - his dad mentions it elsewhere on this forum and it certainly gee'd me up. Holly - roleplayed her bard better than I play mine and I've had 5 years head start. Or, depending on how you look at it, 33 years.) Lots of very unusual and un-threatening indie RPGs on offer - you could have spent twice the time without a blank slot. Beer was good. Bar staff were nice and didn't treat us like gumbies (even when Nathan and I deserved to be so treated) And Sarbreenar wasn't a lot of old 90's people reliving their earlier campaigns, but a bunch of really cool and welcoming folks. Rob Silk - you are a star, dear chap.

'Indiecon, now with Added Ogre- Hitting!!!' Highly recommended. Props to everyone who put in their time and energy to providing such an excellent weekend.

It would be great to see the same variety of gamers back again next year.

I think i speak for all the Indiecon attendees that you 'Sarb' guys and gals really embraced the spirit of the convention...... and to be honest it now wouldnt be the same without you.... I really hope you all come back next year, with Sarb or some other land of your collective creation.... you are now very much a part of the awesomness that is Indiecon
