I'm going off memory, but its normally about 200-250, so about IndieCon kind of size. They had a hiccup one year when the old committee got a bit nervous and talked of cancelling and such, but if you think "IndieCon" in terms of size, that probably about right.

The size of the venue is one large gaming hall/dining hall, a smaller Trade Hall for 8 stalls, 45 gaming tables across the venue, two Edwardian houses for Freeform/LARPS with very large garden and grounds between them, a large seminar room for 100 theatre style, a large bar, and single en-suite accommodation for up to 550.

Normally Convulsions/Continuums have had an upper limit of 250 attending.
Continuum 2010 had 221 delegates attending with an additional 24 day visitors.
Cheers,
Darran

As the Early-bird offer comes to a close we now have 90 paid delegates already plus the guests of honour and the committee. :D

If we can not get into the same embarrassing situation as last time where the (then) organisers are begging people to sign up, that would be awesome. The convention has been going for decades in one form or another, so there's no reason to get thinking it won't happen.

Not a go at you Mick, just a plea to not get histrionics from the organisers! ;)

Yar, I think I saw something like that somewhere and it made me die inside. I'd rather not go through all that again. In 2010 there were over 200 people, well within the ball park of 200-300 that they get every time.

To be fair, I've not signed up yet, but I'm waiting for the gang to sort out holidays and what have you. Regrettably the early bird offer isn't much cheaper than paying at a later date, so it was an easy decision to wait for my mates.

Hey dude, you have no idea what that feels like from the Committees side...not funny!

To clarify: We have a contract with Leicester University to get at least 150 people to book rooms there. If the con get's less, we need to pay. In 2010 they had too few sign ups till March and couldn't afford to pay for the shortfall, which was why they really had no choice- they had to get the numbers or cancel while it was still affordable.

This year,it shouldn't come to that. But because people kept asking how much more we needed, we told everybody just so nobody gets taken by surprise like last time if something should go wrong.
Right now, we have about 75 people who have booked rooms so we're halfway there to what we need. The 15 additional sign-ups that we've had are for day tickets. They do not count towards the 150 goal in itself, but they get us extra money which we really need.

Actually we have 83 sign-ups that are staying over the weekend and 12 Weekend Passes that are attending the convention without accommodation.

This time of year in the lead up to the con we normally have approximately 30 sign-ups (2006, 2008 & 2010) so we have certainly got more in early than we normally do. Many have taken advantage of the Early-Bird offer and saved themselves £10.00 by booking now.
Hopefully it means we will have a full con.

There are no extra charges for playing in any game at the con, including the large freeform/LARPs.
All you will need on the day is beer money, food money (breakfast is free if you staying in accommodation) and 'buying new game books' money! 8)
Cheers,
Darran
