Looking to start playing
Hi all
Iv just moved up to the forest of dean and have been looking for some local game clubs.
Im mainly a tabletop player, 40K, warmachine etc. However i recently bought a copy of Deathwatch (i love reading rule books) and it sounds amazing!!!!
I'v never played a RPG before but am really interested in starting. I also really like the look of Pathfinder and Cthulhu.
Would it be ok for a completely new player like myself to come along? IS there anyone who could teach me?
If got loads of pathfinder pdf's on my computer, but am pretty lost when i read over them.
Hope to hear from you soon
Kind regards
Paul

Re: Looking to start playing
New members/players are always welcome at the club. Come along and somebody will take you through the basics.
Why is it anything you are looking for is always in the last place you look.
Currently Playing: WLD, Dragon Age and about to start Rogue Trader

Re: Looking to start playing
Not really, as everything can be provided to you by others at the club.
However if you do have a set of Dice, note pad and a pencil they would come in handy

Re: Looking to start playing
Hello everyone,
I think i came to the club once when it was based over in RAF Innsworth a few years ago - I played a bit of MtG.
I am now looking to learn how to play D&D 4e if possible. I have had a bit of a read through various books, but have never played a Pen and Paper RPG before.
Would it be ok for me to come along this week and have a look-see?
Thanks.

Hi
You're always welcome, though there's no 4th Ed this week (AFAIK), just some 3.5 & Pathfinder. There are 4th Ed players at the club who'd love to see you.
Thanks
Paul H

Hello there JBB,
If you look in the posts iWARPUK Games/GMs - and then 'Village of Hommlet (D&D 4e) in May', I believe Bryce, 'wreckferret' is now running this 4th level 4E game in June, and i would guess he'd be really happy for you to join in. give him a mail and he can run thro' any questions you may have regarding the game/character creation etc...
looking forward to the game and meeting everyone,
Mark

Hi
Oh, BTW, there's at least one tabletop wargamer at the club. (Me)!
IWARP stands for Innsworth Wargames And Role Playing.
Just saying...

To be fair Paul, the WA aspect of iWARPUK hasn't been valid since before I joined the group in 1999!

Re: Looking to start playing
Hi again everyone,
Just wanted to say thanks for such a warm welcome and enabling me to play without, i hope, not too much inconvenience.
I wanted to know whether it was a good idea for me to look into anything particular for next week, or what you guys did inbetween thursdays - if anything.
Thanks,
James.

Hi James
Glad you enjoyed it. Club-wise not much happens between thursdays, a couple of us play Star Wars The Old Republic/WoW/Diablo3 online and some of the members go to a pub in Cheltenham on a wednesday to play board games.
See you next week.
John.

Re: Looking to start playing
Hi
Between Thursdays?
There's a wargaming club on Weds at 7.30pm at the same venue (Gala Club) that we use. Same room. Think they do 15mm Ancients, not sure what else. (I go wargaming to a different club on Mondays).
As for pathfinder there is always Google Groups Online Pathfinder Society Collective. But the hours bit wierd (Usually US Timezones).
Then there's plenty of gamers online. World of Warcraft, Diablo III and more.....
Thanks
Paul H
