Tabletop Games for Continuum

Postby Rolgan » 12:45pm on 19 Feb 12

Hi Y'all

Keary here.

Please can you send me (Keary.Birch (at) Gmail.com) the tabletop games you wish to run at Continuum.

At the moment I just need to know who you are, what system you want to use, number of players, and a title for your gaming goodness. I will later be asking for preferred slots and some gumph for the games but first things first!

There is only one game up on the website (www.continuum.uk.net) as we speak, so come on let's make this thing fly.

Cheers

I'll be running a few games. He is the first of mine.

Title of Game: Wilderness Throne Saug: Barbarian Land Without a King.
Game System: RuneQuest
Number of Players: 6
Length of Game: 3.5 hours

A savage wild land of stony hills, hidden valleys and deep forest inhabited by legendary beasts and monsters. This cursed land is home to feuding clans of Orlanthi barbarians fighting for survival against the encroachments of two different rival empires that each span half the known world.
To make matters worse an ancient evil, once entombed, has been released that threatens all.
All call for unity has rung out – a monarch needs to be found for battle is soon to be joined that will shape the destiny of all Orlanthi people forever.
Cheers,
Darran

Title of Game: 'ARC Mnemosyne'
Game System: Other Worlds
Number of Players: 6
Length of Game: 3.5 hours

You wake in the cold and dark alone.
You step out of the cryo-chamber onto the icy deck plate, removing the bio-couplings instinctively as you take in your surroundings.
The lights flicker on and warm air flows as the life support kicks in.
Six other cryo-chambers light up revealing a silhouetted form in each.

You don't remember anything; your name, rank, the other crew members or even the ship you are on.
But what concerns you more is the infernal noise echoing from another part of the ship and the fact you have just stepped in warm puddle of blood!
Cheers,
Darran

Games At Night

Title of Game: Death Valley
Game System: InSpectres
Number of Players: 6
Length of Game: 3-4 hours
One year ago vampires, werewolves and zombies appeared in the San Fernando Valley. This is the story of the cops that capture the monsters and the camera crew that captures the cops!

Based on the hit MTV series of the same name, you are members of the Undead Task Force - a branch of the LAPD charged with dealing with supernatural crimes. A lycanthropic fluffer on a porn shoot? A clash between vampires and the Russian mafia? A suspected outbreak of the zombie virus at a school prom? Its all in the day's work for the UTF. Now ... lets get out there and kill something!

Tags: Horror, American, Cop Show, Not wholly serious, Rated 15

Title of Game: American Die
Game System: Monsterhearts
Number of Players: 4
Length of Game: 3-4 hours
So you're a teenager in a small American town, plagued with insecurities, weird emotions and raging hormones. Could it be any worse? Of course it could! Your girlfriend could be in league with Baal, your rival for her affections could be a ghost of her ex-boyfriend and your rival for prom queen could be a vampire. No, not a sparkly one...

Monsterhearts is a game about teenagers and the monsters inside them. Powered by the same engine as Apocalyse World it creates powerful, sexy stories of lust, violence and prom dresses.

Tags: Horror, sex, teenagers, sex, violence, sex, Rated R18. Seriously.

Games in the Day

Title of Game: Pirates of Port Mahon
Game System: Beat to Quarters
Number of Players: 4
Length of Game: 4 hours
As the sun beats down on the azure waves of the Mediterranean, a game of tactical chess is played out between the fleets of Nelson and Napoleon - the prize? Egypt and the conquest of the Middle East.

You are the crew of the HMS Mutine, Nelson's sole scouting vessel in the Mediterranean and your job is to find those damned French! However, there are other moves afoot and soon you may have to make a decision which could condemn an island ... or all of Europe.

Tags: Age of Sail, Napoleonic, Beating the French, Rated 12

Title of Game: The Last Voyage of HMS Gaheris
Game System: Beat to Quarters (SF Hack)
Number of Players: 4
Length of Game: 4 hours
HMSS Gaheris is an aging J-Class Heavy Frigate, a relic in Her Majesty's Space Navy. On her last tour of duty, she has a simple mission - protect the mining colong on Sigma-4 and ensure that the crucial promethium shipment gets through. It should be an easy mission, a rundown for the trainee crew. Yeah... right.

My modest contributions;

GM: Earl de la Warr (Pendragon Eschille)

Title of Game: The Siege at Castle Pennith

Game System and Setting: King Arthur Pendragon 5.1 edition

Game slot: Slot 3 (Saturday 10:00 – 13:00)

Quiet or Display game?: Quiet

Max Number of Players: 6

Length of Game: 3+hrs

Short Description:

King Uther Pendragon, sick and tethered to his horse, finally defeated the Saxon invaders at the terrible battle of St. Albans; but he's dead now, poisoned some say, and Britain's shores once again are prey to Saxon raids. The country cries out for a King, but no heir comes to claim the throne. Portsmouth was the first to fall, then the Saxon Cedric took all of Wessex. Some say that all of Salisbury will soon fall also. Duke Ulfius, Uther's old friend and advisor rallies men around him to battle the Saxon horde. Knights arrive at Silchester daily to swell the ranks, but never enough; many lords, lacking a King to guide them, look to their own affairs and their own lands. These are bad times for Britons: land squabbles set knight against knight, lord against lord; Saxon raiders advance ever inward; and strange tales are heard of terrible faerie powers of Saxon raiders in the South.

The Knights are en route to Castle Pennith as just as it is the midst of a raid. Will the Knights be able to come to the aid of the Lord?

Title of Game: The Tourney at Castle Ebrium

Game System and Setting: King Arthur Pendragon 5.1 edition

Game slot: 4 (Saturday 14:00 to 18:00)

Quiet or Display game?: Quiet

Max Number of Players: 6

Length of Game: 3+hrs

Short Description:

This adventure takes place in and around the ancient castle of Ebrium, a fortress deep in the heart of the wild fens of Angleland. Ebrium is the ancient seat of King Martius, last in his line. Over the last hundred years, due to constant Angle incursions and the enchantment of Britain, Ebrium has fallen from the powerful and influential position it once held. What now remains, is a poor shadow of its former self; the castle has fallen into disrepair, with many of the rooms now unusable due to rot, damp and destruction. King Martius is a seldom seen figure, suffering a debilitating illness, from which his surgeons believe he will never recover.

However, a Tourney has been announced at Castle Ebrium with a great prize! It is also said that the King's daughter, the Lady Elaine is a great beauty and of marriageable age. A great many Knights are heading to the Tourney to try their luck at arms in hope for a prize and Glory!

The player knights are en route to a tourney at Castle Ebrium.

In what amounts to a logistical nightmare involving far too many suitcases and a train ticket, I am having to pull Captain Scarlet. My 'dry run packing' experiment at the weekend, showed this to be the case, therefore, Scarlet is out. Luckily I have two spankingly brand new con games already written and propped up, ready for their debuts. So instead of Captain Scarlet, which was to have been ran twice during the con, cometh:

Title of Game: Mad Max: Twisted Firestarters
GM: Paul Lawrence
Game System and Setting: Savage Worlds, set in a dystopian 'some time from now' era, just before Mad Max 1, the characters being members the Main Force Patrol ( MFP ), destined to bring law, order and justice to the outback.

Game slot: Friday afternoon, slot 1

Quiet or Display game?: Display

Max Number of Players: 6

The few good men of the Main Force Patrol have their hands full, as a new set of scum enters the region, going by the name of ‘The Prodigal Suns’. Their aim is to bring their own brand of ‘scorched earth’ to the peaceful villages in the outback. It’s time for Max, Goose and the boys to rev their engines and bring the perpetrators to justice.

See you out on the road, skag !

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Title of Game: Resident Evil: Assault On Precinct 1.3
GM: Paul Lawrence
Game System and Setting: Savage Worlds, set in Raccoon City

Game slot: Friday evening, slot 2

Quiet or Display game?: Display

Max Number of Players: 6

Timeline : Raccoon City, during the viral outbreak caused by the Umbrella Corporation.

A few cops with a war on their hands. Their enemy... an army of zombies pouring from a covert research facility. Their only allies are the convicts at Precinct 1.3 : a convicted murderer, an industrial spy, and a corporate hitman.

Tags : Survival Horror, Conflicting Agendas, Bio-Organic Weapons.

Notes: No system knowledge necessary. For those familiar with the Capcom games,( also no prior knowledge of the characters required, thought I would add it for interest ) the cast consist of

'Convicts' : Jack Krauser, Ada Wong, HUNK [Human Unit Never Killed]

I've just submitted a couple of game submissions for the con. I'm sorry to have been slow getting around to this - I hope it's not too late. I've told Keary that if either slot is inconvenient, I could move these to other times.

GM name: Phil Masters
Title of Game: Sulawesi Landslip
Game System/Setting: Transhuman Space (GURPS 4e)
Game Slot: Saturday 10:00-13:00 (Slot 3)
Max. Players: 5
Length of Game: ~3 hours
Short Description:

In the year 2100, the Nihon Kinkyu Kyushutsu Cho is an elite agency of the Japanese government. Its hypersonic dropships and armoured cybershells can reach any point on Earth within minutes, carrying teams with just one mission: to rescue every possible victim of any disaster.

But your team has an additional task. You have to look good while you're doing your job. You’ve been selected as faces of the NKKC, so try to look the part, okay?

GM name: Phil Masters
Title of Game: Mrs. Nomed's Respectable Lodging House
Game System/Setting: Discworld 2nd edition (preview)/GURPS 4e
Game Slot: Sunday 10:00-13:00 (Slot 6)
Max. Players: 5
Length of Game: ~3 hours
Short Description:

Mrs. Eulice Nomed runs a respectable lodging house in Ankh-Morpork, which is the best place that you can find to live while you make your fortune in the city. There are, no doubt, worse landladies, so you don't object too much to Mrs. Nomed's funny little rules.

Anyway, when what's in the cellar bursts forth upon the unknowing mortal world, frankly, paying your rent a month in advance and wiping your feet when you come through the door are the least of your worries.

Hey Keary, is there a deadline for getting games in to you? Does it make a practical difference, advance notification vs sign-up sheet on the day?
