Running Games at Con-Quest

Postby Evilgaz » 2:18pm on 10 Dec 09

Greetings!

At the prestigious, inaugural Con-Quest I shall be your dashing host for games of all varieties. We’d like to encourage you all to put on games - RPGs, CCGs, Board Games, Miniatures, whatever you like – and are considering how we can reward the noble souls who step forward to run/facilitate something; it will probably be free entry into the event for the day, but I know that the vibrant UK gaming scene will be full of eager volunteers whether this is the case or not!

To register your game(s) before the convention, you will need to email me at the gaming hotline address (evilgaz@ukroleplayers.com) and I’ll see to it that you’re booked in with a table and advertised on the website in a timely fashion just as soon as we’ve got the fully functioning site in place. Pass on to me the usual sort of details:

GM/Facilitator
Title of Game
System
(if different from above)
Max Number of Players
Length of Game
Short Description
(up to 500 words)
Tags(any short, snappy key words, such as age, experience needed, drop in or sign up?)
e.g. PG13, newbie friendly, fairly traditional, pirates, funny accents

We’re a fairly broad church and if you want to run something, we’re here to support you . From D&D 4e to Polaris via Dead of Night and Savage Worlds, traditional to radical, chess to Heroclix, demo game to playtest, Last Night on Earth to Warmachine – label up what you want to run and we’ll do our best to promote it and provide you what you need from the venue.

Any questions or queries drop me a line at evilgaz@ukroleplayers.com and I’ll do my best to answer them when I can.

I look forward to seeing a bursting schedule of diverse games and know that the UK gaming community won’t disappoint!

Gaz (Evil)

To avoid clashes and overlaps the day will be split into two slots for games that will run for 3.5 or 4 hours with a gap in between for food, refreshments, wandering the trade hall, etc.

Day will be split into slots
Slot 1 = 10:30 until 14:00
Slot 2 = 15:00 until 19:00
Cheers,
Darran

I'm inclined to offer something. Most likely a new scenario for my ancient Greek Wild Talents. Or maybe Reign. Or maybe Diaspora or another flavour of FATE. I'll have to think about this one.

Author: Blood of the Gods (Wild Talents in Ancient Greece), Drowned Lands (a wet post-apocalypse based on Deluge, in Worlds of Wordplay), Age of Arthur (with Graham Spearing)(Fate-based dark ages fantasy).

Coming Soon: Here Be Dragons (with Simon Bray)(an OpenQuest fantasy setting mixing the whimsical and the dark), Tomb of the Necromancers (a Crypts and Things scenario).

In the Pipeline: Reign: Ninth Legion (a fantasy setting involving the descendants of the lost Ninth Legion of the Roman Empire)

I'll do the proper submission when I know exactly what I'm offering up to run, but I'm intending to make the trek up from Kent to support you lot and to run something in one of the slots. As I say, haven't decided what yet, but odds are it will be some form of modern horror game and probably one of Don't Rest Your Head, Unknown Armies or Dread (FBOTP).

I'll be there.

It's months away so I won't submit my games for another couple of months yet. Hopefully some Kagematsu. Almost definitely some Burning Wheel.

I'll be there too. I'll do the game submission when I know what I'm running.

Ditto :D

Gonna try and plan something in to run.
Possibly Hellfrost or POTSM. Or maybe Solomon Kane, if I have bought it by then.

I wouldn't mind trying Hellfrost - it's about the only Savage Worlds setting I've thought about buying that's out right now.

Check you guys out...

Oh it might seem like a long way off, but by the time you've got Christmas out of the way it'll only be three months or so... But I'm not going to pressure anyone for games just yet, after all, who knows what might be under the Christmas trees of our valiant GM's? ;)

Look like a good spread of potentials already though Gentlemen, and with emails from others already in the bag I'm predicting a really strong line up. Ace. :D

A book about Gurdjieff and a Cadbury's Santa's Selection Box. Yeah, I couldn't think of anything I wanted because I've got everything I want bar a book on Gurdjieff :D

I feel a thread-jack coming on, but since you brought it up I simply must ask: what is everyone else looking forward to finding under their Crimbo tree?

Cheers

Really?? And you guys are ok with Pepé just thread-jacking like this??? :D

Come on dude, even I wouldn't blatantly de-rail a thread in such an audacious manner.

And it's not like you're shy about suggesting to other forumites they start new threads!

I'd like to go and run in each slot...

Do you still need GMs / games?
Not sure of the Con's size / requirements.

Sorry if this seems like a dumb question :)

We will need plenty of games.

We are expecting to get quite a few through the door on the day.
