News on 14 August 2008

Simon Emmins has posted the following in the forums. If anyone can help him is details are below:

I wouldn’t normally do this, but unfortunately events have conspired to make life interesting. I’m organising the Esdevium board games and D&D demonstrations for GenCon UK. I’ve just had several of my volunteers drop out due to Real Life invading and desperately need to make up numbers. What I’m offering is an all expenses paid jaunt to the show, free product, and guaranteed time off to experience the show as you see fit.If you enjoy board games, or like to DM D&D 4e, please drop me a line. I need people for all four days of the show.

Update:

Well, that was an excellent response. All places have now been filled! If any of you are interested in helping out with demonstrations in the future please feel free to drop me a line.

News on 7 June 2008

Today is Worldwide D&D Game Day and shops across the country are, as I write, running demos of the new Dungeons & Dragons. Did you take part? If so, what was it like. Is Dungeons & Dragons 4th Edition better, worse, or the same as 3.5? Let us know your views and opinions in the official Worldwide D&D Game Day forum (for the UK) here.

D&D 4e Preview Review

News on 19 April 2008

Late last month, UK Role Players was invited to participate in a pre-launch preview game of D&D4e by those fine chaps at Esdevium Games. I was unable to attend myself so Halfbat agreed to represent us. He really enjoyed himself and has written a Preview Review so that everyone can see what 4e is going to be like. You can find it in the Reviews section (or, directly, here).

News on 28 February 2008

Scenario Competition SponsorsWith thanks to the wonderful people at Dungeons & Dragons and Esdevium Games, UK Role Players is pleased to announce a scenario writing competition to help celebrate our fifth anniversary.

Full rules are beneath “the cut” but the basics are that the scenario, which can be for any system, should be playable in a standard 4-hour convention slot and include pre-generated PCs. The number of prizes available is vast (and once again, thanks to the sponsors Dungeons & Dragons and Esdevium Games for this) and includes; D&D Icons dragon miniatures, D&D Miniatures boosters, Star Wars miniatures boosters, Battlestar Galactica RPG, Runequest RPG, Inn-Fighting, and Three-Dragon Ante. An excellent haul indeed! So, without further ado, hit the “Read the rest of this entry” link and good luck! (more…)
