Southampton Pubcon

By Dave McAlister • Apr 12th, 2010 • Category: Latest News

Rich Stokes has, in his own words, foolishly arranged a one day RPG convention in a pub in Southampton on Sat 10th of July. The venue is a pub called The Shooting Star (formerly Kolebka). More details of the venue can be found on the pub’s website (here)

It’s in Bevois Valley, about 12 minutes walk from St Deny’s station or 20 minutes from Southampton Central.

Entry is free! Doors open at 10am, there apparently will be free bacon sandwiches. First game at 11am til 3pm, second slot at 4pm til 8pm and the pub is open until something like 2am for people who want to stick around.

It’s a great and very friendly venue and a great opportunity for some gaming! The south coast is a bit devoid of gaming events during the summer, so hopefully this’ll do something to fill that void.

So come along, bring some games and enjoy some beers!*

* or coffee/juice if that’s your thing

Gen Con UK Dead

By Dave McAlister • Mar 11th, 2010 • Category: Latest News

StuartBall had been making enquiries about Gen Con UK 2010 with Adrian Swartout, CEO of Gen Con LLC and was surprised to receive the following reply:

“Peter and I had a long discussion recently and determined we will not be looking to solicit a license for a Gen Con UK show – or any other country for that matter. We felt the experience and people brought together by the group working on this project were our “dream team” for the event and if they aren’t able to pull it off, it’s unlikely anyone else would be able to. Having a licensed event start up and then stop is more damaging to the brand than beneficial so that being said we’re putting the Gen Con UK show to rest.”

There is a thread mourning it’s loss here.
