"Evilgaz Approved" should be the theme for next year's con.

My main suggestions:

"Closed Circle adventures"

- "The term 'Closed circle' is a mystery term. It refers to a situation where contact with the outside world has been severed... This is where the setting is truly allowed to shine. The culprit and other characters are unable to escape the [closed circle]. At the same time, there won't be any new characters from the outside."
— Itsuki Koizumi, The Melancholy Of Haruhi Suzumiya

Its great because it can work in pretty much any and every genre or setting, and there is no end of interesting ways to put it into play.

And a trio of secondary suggestion

  • "Games your Mum could play"
  • "Gods and Demons" (or for the Dr Who fans Daemons)
  • "Based on a True Story"
Declan Feeney,

Film examples of Closed Circles:

  • The Thing or Pleasantville (Isolated Locations)
  • Cube (Death traps)
  • Escape from Alcatraz, Shawshank Redemption, Fortress (Prisons)
  • Flightplan, Non-Stop or Snakes on a Plane (Airplanes)
  • Quarantine (Inside a Quarantine Zone)
  • The Breakfast Club (Detention)
  • The Truman Show, Dark City or Groundhog Day (Just damned weird)

Ack! I think I can manage this, though I feel uncomfortable. Anyone for a game of Frankenstein Atomic Frontier? I managed before; I can do it again.

Did you run the Dee Sanction diceless last time? It was fun.

Yes. The Dee Sanction was diceless because I still haven't settled on a game mechanic for the setting! :?

On the matter of Declan's suggestion for "Closed Circle adventures" - I'm running A|State this weekend, very much a 'closed circle' setting. I've skipped ahead to an alternate Seven Hills...

Closed circles...hmmm, forbidden islands, a weird horror scenario I have knocking around in my head, and if course the dungeon.

Thinking about popping down for the day. As with everything else at the moment it depends on finding a job first ;)

None of the above won!

When do we start discussing the 2018 theme ( and again so a non-poster can sweep in and steal the day?)

What time is too early on Friday to set off on my epic 47 minute journey?

My train arrives at 5.48pm so I should be there at 6pm ;) My mate Chris should be there earlier though - he'll be the one in the biker leathers waiting for me to arrive so he can get in the hotel room

And, Gaz, bring the badge so I can pick it up ;)

That stretch along the Penistone Road from the city center is always a bitch if you get there after about 4pm.
