Is 31 too old to start playing AD&D?

Postby tobagochilli » 12:58am on 24 Jan 12

Hey! As the title suggests, I'm 31 and I'd like to try out tabletop AD&D for the first time.

I'm was looking at groups in the Hampshire area and stumbled upon this forum.

I am pretty much a newbie when it comes to tabletop RPG. I played Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay about 15 years ago, but my RPG hunger has pretty much been sated with video games. Throughout the 90s I played MUDs and then more recently things like Everquest and Warcraft. While I've never played AD&D per se, I am familiar with quite a lot of the game's concepts that have been tweaked and crammed into various video games over the years.

I am itching to play some tabletop stuff - particularly 3.5 AD&D but I'd be up for anything else really. While RPing in something like Warcraft can be fun it is quite constrained in what you can actually do within the world.

I understand that you guys have a regular meet down in the Deco - when is the next one and can I just turn up?

Also, is anyone looking for an extra player for a game and happy to take on a newbie?

Cheers,

Firstly welcome dude.....
Is 31 to old? well im 40 next week, so i would say no :D

You would be most welcome to come and join us to test a few different games systems out, one of our guys ( who is an officer on luxury cruise liners and away at the moment) runs some very cool 3.5 games

We are at a local convention for the next 5 days, but next session in the Deco is 5th Feb, it would be great to see you there

I'm away but have spies everywhere!

Going to cont. some dnd 3.5 when I return. Oh yeah, purest form of dnd since THAC0 was cool.

Thank you for the quick replies!

Ok - Sunday 5th sounds good. I shall pop down. Out of curiosity, how many people, on average, attend the Sunday meetups? Also, I presume I just listen for the dice rolls and maniacal laughter and I'll be sure to find you?

we can get anywhere between 5-25 people really attendance is always a bit dodgey but there will always be a game or two on.....and easily spotted as A we have as many girl players as guys and B we pretty much have the pub to ourselves :)

Be great to see you there
