Slot System?

Postby First Age » 10:15am on 26 Jun 11

Hi,

Is there some kind of structure to the gaming slots to enable gamers to plan their activities throughout the weekend? Or is it a free form jazz odyssey where games will overlap and you just plot your course as best you can?

Usually its sorta divided by lunch and dinner times i.e. after breakfast (9:30-1ish), after lunch, (2 till 6) and after dinner (8+)

There is usually food on in the dining rooms around those times, though that may vary.

Great, hopefully get plenty of gaming in. Other than Marcus' wondrous marvels I haven't seen much advertised other than Gurps and Ars Magica.

I'm looking for Fate, Savage, Trav, some Indie doohicky, Song of Fire and Ice, Albion, Dragon Age, gaaah loads of stuff...

Come on, serve it up people! 8)

Yeah.... Consternation tends to be a little more laid back than that. Often its nice to just enjoy the sun in the Quadrangle and play ad hoc boardgames. Traditionally there are talks every hour, so if you are bored you can go listen to something about gaming. Even the slots I gave are more... guidelines?

Like Steve said it's a nicely relaxed affair. There are plenty of sign up on the day RPGs but lots of opportunities to chill out and try a new board game, or play an old favorite with new friends, or chat in the real ale bar.

As well as the relaxed friendly atmosphere what keeps me coming back is the solid spine of gaming related discussions, panels and Guest of Honor talks all through the weekend. Subject matter ranges from the serious to the very silly, but there is usually plenty of food for thought which can only improve your game playing and design.

Friday evening there is usually gaming. I usually get there early and have a pleasant afternoon wandering around Cambridge.

We have the venue from about midday on the Friday to the end of Sunday. There's no food available in the venue Sunday evening, but there's plenty of places nearby to go eat.

On the Friday, people tend to roll in when they can get away from work; you'd be very welcome to show up as early as you like, although there's a slight risk that you'll be roped in to help move tables around or something if you're early enough.

People then mostly leave on the Sunday in time to get home; we've got at least one event (Go Tell the Spartans) running until about 4-4:30pm. There's always a few of us who hang around, go out to dinner, then chill out in the venue.
