What sort of things do Consternationeers like?

Postby Tim Gray » 11:08pm on 13 Aug 11

I realise I have no idea of the vibe, the zeitgeist, the rarefied quintessence of Consternation.

What sort of things do people like to play and do? Genres, systems, scenario styles, game lengths, etc.

I'm asking more about the overall trend of the event than people's individual preferences (though of course one is made up of the other).

I can't speak for the con as a whole but as an individual ;^)

but nothing ridiculously complex - no super-uber-advanced squad leader for me
or inordinately (more than a couple of hours) long.

Hm.. board and card games eh? Thought it was mainly RPGs, but board and card fine by me too.
I like:
RoboRally
Settlers
Carcassonne
Dominion
PowerGrid
Transamerica
Troyes
Puerto Rico
Goa
Endeavour
Age of Empires
Source of the Nile etc. etc. etc. ad fall asleepeum (basically anything with resource management/worker placement, and network building; oh and bidding, area control, empire building, in fact pretty much any and every mechanic you can think of).

[Rubs hands with glee at the prospect of so much gaming goodness...]

sorry didn't mean to mislead there is always a quite respectable array of RPGs on offer too :^)
The only thing that tends to be a little rare is tabletop wargaming.

Well, as I'll be manning my trade stall, and chin-wagging with various mates, some of them likewise trading, I probably won't have a lot of time for gaming :(
