Fate of the Remnants Kickstarter

By on 3 December 2014

The gods have fallen, the world crumbles under the Oracle War. The fate of the remnants is in your hands. A tabletop Fate Core RPG.

Fate of the Remnants is a post-cataclysmic roleplaying game set in an ominous, ravaged world. Prophesies appeared that avowed the Godfall, which divided the faithful into those that believed the prophecies, subsequently branded as heretics, and the old spiritual rulers that tried to ban the Oracles and their followers. In the ensuing War of the Oracles the adherents of faith were either killed or exiled by angry masses that at last, after many years of bloodshed, turned on them.

As the war plunged the world into a dark age, the Darkness Before rose again, bewitching the weak and awakening the dead. Without godly wisdom or holy ceremonies no one were safe from the hungry evil, neither common man nor noble lady. In the ruins of towns and kingdoms survivors fortified themselves, forming either new communities or nations, trying to rebuild something that could never be again. In the last flickers of light, the old Archmages tread out, banished by the godly adherents since ages past. With servants of the gods no longer in power, they were now bent on making a last stand as guardians and sentinels of the last ruin kingdoms and their denizens.

The player characters may save the remnants of humanity as able lieges to dying kings, village heroes on watch for marauders, mercenaries or chamberlains paid by wealthy merchant lords, or as magicians in the service of the Circle Elders. They may rise to become heroes or allies to the legendary Archmages, maybe even turn the dark ominous tide… or fall down, ensnared by the Darkness Before and be forever lost.

About Dave McAlister

Dave has been roleplaying for over 30 years, having played and/or run most mainstream systems with the espionage genre being an early favourite. So much so that, in 1999, he started Modus Operandi. That same year he joined the Sarbreenar “Living” campaign team as their plotline controller before moving across to the Living Spycraft campaign team (as UK Regional Branch Director) in 2003. 2003 also saw the birth of UK Role Players as well as Dave’s first freelance writing appointment (co-writing World Militaries and consulting on both US Militaries and Battlegrounds, all for Spycraft).

Since then, Dave has concentrated on supporting the UK gaming scene. He has organised and run several small, one-day, events and was the RPG Area Manager for Gen Con UK in 2004. His current favourite systems are Dungeons & Dragons (specifically 5th Edition), Savage Worlds and Cinematic Unisystem. He has a (currently neglected) blog at dave.mcalister.org.uk and runs a D&D 5e SRD website at DnD5e.info.

I’d really like to back this… but the prices they’re asking are completely out of line with what they are delivering.

For example you have to back at $60 USD before you get PDFs of the stretch goals. That’s insane. They’ve probably killed the kickstarter with unreasonable pricing.

Unfortunately there is absolutely no excuse. Its not as if there weren’t other kickstarters they could have looked at to work out what was/wasn’t reasonable.
